TV-Series
Description
Izetta is the fifteen-year-old protagonist of her story and the titular character, known as the White Witch. She is the last surviving descendant of a bloodline of witches, believed to be the most powerful to emerge in generations. Her background is one of isolation and constant movement; as a child, she traveled nomadically with her grandmother to keep her magical heritage a secret from the outside world. This upbringing left her shy, self-conscious, and initially lacking in social graces, often leading her to apologize frequently and feel uncertain of her place in the world.

In personality, Izetta is defined by a blend of gentle kindness and a fierce, unyielding resolve when protecting those she holds dear. She is often endearingly dorky and displays a childish sincerity, especially in her interactions with others. Despite her immense power, she is not inherently aggressive and has been shown to express regret over the harm she causes, even to enemy soldiers. Her primary motivation is deeply personal, rooted in a childhood encounter with Princess Ortfiné "Finé" Fredericka von Eylstadt. After being saved by Finé from an angry mob, Izetta transferred her loyalty and adoration to the princess, seeing her as the first person who did not fear her magic. Her stated goal is to use her powers to help Finé make her country, the small Alpine duchy of Eylstadt, the best possible place to live. This devotion is the core of her character, and she is willing to risk her life to become the princess's weapon against the invading forces of Germania.

Within the story, Izetta serves as the ultimate military asset for Eylstadt, a one-woman army capable of turning the tide of battles and a symbol of hope for a nation on the brink of defeat. Her role is complicated by the fact that her existence breaks a personal taboo against using magic to interfere with human conflicts. Her most significant relationship is undoubtedly with Finé. Their bond is the emotional heart of the narrative, with Izetta's loyalty eventually evolving into a deep and personal love. Other key relationships include her dynamic with Bianca, the captain of the Royal Guard, who is initially distrustful of Izetta but grows to care for her over time. She also interacts with Lotte, a cheerful maid assigned to assist her, and Elvira, a publicist who manages Izetta's image.

Throughout the series, Izetta undergoes notable development. She starts as a self-deprecating girl who doubts her own worth, constantly feeling unworthy of Finé's gratitude. As the war progresses, she becomes more assertive, eventually taking the initiative in key decisions and even slapping Finé to snap her out of despair. A significant moment of growth is when she finally stops addressing the princess formally and calls her by her name, Finé, signifying a more equal and intimate partnership. This development culminates in her ultimate act of agency: a heroic sacrifice to end the war, an act that leaves her alive but without the use of her legs.

Izetta's notable abilities are magical, centered on the power to telekinetically manipulate any object she touches. She can levitate, control, and magically enhance objects, turning ordinary items into powerful weapons. Her signature weapon is a large anti-tank rifle, which she rides like a traditional witch's broom for flight. She can also wield other rod-shaped objects, such as lances or medieval cavalry spears, in a similar fashion. Her powers are not limitless; they are entirely dependent on drawing magical energy from natural ley lines that crisscross the land. In areas without ley lines, she is virtually powerless and no different from a normal human. To circumvent this weakness, she can use her own blood as a proxy to touch and manipulate the environment over a wider area, a technique known as blood magic. Later in the series, she uses a Magic Stone to temporarily overcome the ley line limitation, greatly increasing her power at the cost of putting a heavy physical toll on her body and shortening her lifespan. After the final battle, the world's magical energy is drained, and Izetta is left permanently paralyzed from the waist down, powerless but alive.
