Description
McGillis Fareed is a young officer from Earth who serves the peacekeeping organization Gjallarhorn. He is polite, courteous, and can be considered charming, but he approaches his work with a seriousness that makes him appear cold-hearted to those who do not know him personally. He is analytical and thoughtful, often reserving his emotions behind a professional facade. Beneath this composed exterior lies a deep-seated anger that drives his primary motivation: to destroy and reform the corrupt structure of Gjallarhorn.
McGillis was adopted into the Fareed family, one of the seven ruling houses of Gjallarhorn’s Seven Stars, after a traumatic childhood. This background fuels his ambition to climb the social and political ladder. He participates in the meetings of the Seven Stars as the representative of the Fareed family, steadily expanding his influence within the organization. Following the death of Carta Issue, he assumes command of the Outer Earth Orbit Joint Regulatory Fleet, working to erase the distrust that Earth’s economic blocs hold toward Gjallarhorn.
Throughout the story, McGillis plays a dual role as a Gjallarhorn officer and a covert ally to the private military company Tekkadan. Under the alias Montag, he provides Tekkadan with intelligence and tactical support when it serves his own ends. His cooperation with Tekkadan is a calculated move to further his plan to seize control of Gjallarhorn. He eventually pilots the ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael, the legendary mobile suit of Gjallarhorn’s founder Agna Garm, to legitimize a coup and revive the founder's supposed ideals. His rebellion is ultimately crushed by Rustal Elion, who uses political maneuvering and the Dainsleif weapon system, and McGillis is killed when his Gundam Bael is destroyed.
Key relationships shape his arc. Gaelio Bauduin is both his rival and former friend; their bond fractures as McGillis’s ambitions grow.
