Description
Naze Turbine is the leader of the Turbines, a subsidiary organization that handles the transportation division of the Jupiter-based conglomerate Teiwaz. He also serves as the captain of the Hammerhead, a large vessel that serves as the flagship of the Turbines fleet. Despite his position of authority and his reputation as a militant figure known for an aggressive attitude within the Jupiter Sphere, Naze carries himself with a courteous and easygoing demeanor. He is deeply trusted by McMurdo Barriston, the representative of Teiwaz, which speaks to his reliability and capability within the organization.

Naze was instrumental in the early formation of the Turbines, having started by taking in women workers who had no relatives and offering them protection and purpose under the guise of being his wives. This arrangement created a family-like bond among the crew, bound together by mutual loyalty rather than traditional structures. He operates with clear moral boundaries; for instance, he expressed disgust upon learning that the members of Tekkadan had been equipped with the Alaya-Vijnana system during their childhood by a former employer. While he can be ruthless toward enemies when necessary, he is steadfastly loyal to his friends, crew, and allies.

His motivations are rooted in the protection and advancement of the Turbines family and, later, in supporting the upstart Martian organization Tekkadan after forming a bond with its leader, Orga Itsuka. Naze and Orga become sworn brothers through the Sakazuki ceremony, a blood oath that solidifies the alliance between the Turbines and Tekkadan. Naze provides Tekkadan with vital transport, logistical support, and military manpower, serving as a key ally during their mission to escort Kudelia Aina Bernstein to Earth and in subsequent operations. He vouches for Tekkadan before McMurdo Barriston, putting his own life on the line to back Orga and his group.

His closest relationship is with Amida Arca, his partner and one of his wives, with whom he founded the Turbines. The two share a deep, unspoken understanding and fight alongside each other as equals. Naze and Amida are together in nearly every major engagement, with Amida piloting a mobile suit to cover the Hammerhead while Naze commands from the bridge. He also maintains a respectful and paternal dynamic with Orga Itsuka, treating the younger leader as a brother and ally rather than a subordinate. Within the broader Teiwaz hierarchy, he is respected but also draws envy and suspicion from figures such as Jasley Donomikols, who resents the attention and resources given to Tekkadan.

In terms of development, Naze transitions from a wary neutral party into a committed member of Tekkadan's extended family. He takes increasing risks to support Orga's ambitions, even as the political situation grows more dangerous. His most defining moment comes when the Arianrod fleet, led by Rustal Elion, launches a devastating assault on the Turbines base. Realizing the battle is lost, Naze orders all of his crew and wives to evacuate, choosing to remain behind alone to pilot the Hammerhead. Amida refuses to abandon him and stays to provide mobile suit cover. In a final act of defiance, Naze rams the crippled Hammerhead into two battleships, sacrificing himself and Amida to allow the rest of the Turbines to escape.

As a commander, Naze is skilled in large-scale ship operations and strategic coordination, leading the Turbines with a steady hand and a calculated approach to combat. He is not a mobile suit pilot himself but relies on his partner Amida to provide offensive mobile suit power. His most notable ability is his leadership: he fosters a strong sense of family and loyalty among his crew, and he possesses the political acumen to navigate the complex power structures of Teiwaz while maintaining the trust of its leader. His willingness to sacrifice everything for those under his care defines his legacy.
