TV-Series
Description
Jasley Donomikols holds the position of Executive Director of the JPT Trust, a subsidiary of the massive economic organization Teiwaz, effectively making him the number two figure within the entire group. He is a man driven by ambition and resentment, feeling threatened by the rapid ascent of the young private military company Tekkadan and its patron, Naze Turbine. His dislike for Naze is particularly pronounced, as he views the leader of the Turbines as someone who cynically uses women and children to climb the ranks. According to the pilot Amida Arca, Jasley is incapable of understanding that Naze genuinely cares for his crew, as Jasley himself sees women merely as tools to be used. He also harbors a deep contempt for the orphans of Tekkadan, frequently deriding them as space rats.
Throughout the second season, Jasley’s primary motivation is to eliminate his rivals and secure his own power, positioning himself as McMurdo Barriston’s eventual successor. To achieve this, he conspires with Iok Kujan, an influential but arrogant officer from the military organization Gjallarhorn. Jasley provides Iok with information and works with him to frame the Turbines for possessing an illegal weapon, a Dainsleif. This scheme forces the Turbines to sever their ties with Teiwaz and leads to a deadly confrontation orchestrated by Iok, resulting in the deaths of Naze Turbine and Amida Arca. When Tekkadan refrains from retaliating at Naze’s funeral despite Jasley’s mocking provocations, he escalates his cruelty by ordering the assassination of Lafter Frankland, a beloved member of the Turbines, in a cold-blooded attempt to goad Tekkadan into a suicidal attack against his forces.
As a tactician and businessman, Jasley is portrayed as competent in profit-driven ventures, having amassed wealth and risen to a high rank within Teiwaz. However, his arrogance leads him to underestimate his enemies and overestimate his allies. In combat, he commands from an armored cruiser named the Golden Jasley, a garishly decorated ship that can deploy numerous mobile suits, though he relies entirely on hired mercenaries and Human Debris to do the actual fighting. His personal combat ability appears to be nonexistent, and his confidence hinges on numerical and tactical advantages.
Jasley’s role in the story is that of a central antagonist whose machinations directly cause major tragedies for the protagonists. His key relationships are defined by antagonism; he views Naze Turbine as his primary obstacle within Teiwaz and sees Orga Itsuka and Tekkadan as unruly upstarts who need to be crushed. He forms a self-serving alliance with Iok Kujan, believing the Gjallarhorn officer's name and connections will guarantee victory, all while failing to recognize Iok's own incompetence and limited political capital.
The character’s development follows a trajectory of escalating villainy ultimately leading to a desperate downfall. From a scheming corporate officer, he transforms into a petty and vengeful plotter, and finally a panicked coward when his plans unravel. When Tekkadan, having left Teiwaz to exact revenge, attacks his fleet, Jasley’s superior numbers prove useless against their focused assault. His hoped-for pincer attack with Iok’s squadron never materializes, as McMurdo Barriston reveals he has made a deal with Rustal Elion, Iok’s superior, to leave Jasley to his fate. Cornered and terrified, Jasley abandons all dignity, first pleading with McMurdo for intervention and then calling Orga to offer a bribe to spare his life. Orga refuses, simply stating he wanted to hear Jasley beg. In his final moments, Jasley spends them pathetically pleading for mercy as Mikazuki Augus, piloting the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, lands on his ship’s bridge and destroys it on Orga’s order, killing Jasley and his closest followers.
