Description
Ken Gucchi Mizoguchi is a pivotal character in ēlDLIVE, known by his nickname Gucchi. He is a 14-year-old Earthling boy who serves as the captain of a spaceship for the antagonistic organization Demille, holding the rank of executive within the group. Gucchi is also the childhood friend of the series protagonist, Chuuta Kokonose.

Gucchi has a boyish appearance characterized by red, spiky hair and matching red eyes, which bear a notable resemblance to Chuuta’s own features. His typical attire as a Demille captain consists of a red hooded jacket worn over a white shirt or black turtleneck, paired with white pants and grey boots. When he goes undercover at Chuuta's school, he adopts the standard white student uniform to blend in.

In terms of personality, Gucchi is fundamentally a kind and loyal individual who deeply values his friends, much like Chuuta. He is cheerful and playful when in the company of those he trusts, often teasing Chuuta about his former habit of talking to himself before he learned about the existence of aliens known as Monitaliens. Despite his genuine nature, Gucchi is also a skilled actor, capable of convincingly feigning allegiance to Demille’s cause, a deception that surprises even Chuuta when his true intentions are revealed.

The driving force behind Gucchi's actions is a tragic event from his past. Seven years prior to the story's present, he and his friends Chuuta, Michiyo, and Matsutarou often played together on Mount Taketori. A month before a fateful accident, the group had buried a time capsule containing farewell gifts after Gucchi claimed he was moving away, only for him to later admit he had begged his parents to cancel the move because he would miss them. Shortly after, while playing near a cliff, the ground collapsed. As Gucchi, Michiyo, and Matsutarou dangled from the edge, a panicked Chuuta accidentally caused them to fall. While Michiyo and Matsutarou went missing, a dying Gucchi was rescued by the mysterious organization Demille, which saved his life and recruited him.

In the years that followed, Gucchi rose through Demille's ranks to become a spaceship captain, motivated by the hope of locating his lost friends, Michiyo and Matsutarou. His role in the story brings him into direct conflict with Chuuta, whom he initially blames for the accident. He confronts Chuuta by transferring to his school under the alias Mikio Narita and luring him back to Mount Taketori. Here, he reveals his identity and his affiliation with Demille, which is targeting the law enforcement organization ēlDLIVE to extract data from Chuuta's symbiotic alien partner, a Monitalien named Dolugh.

Gucchi's key relationships are central to his character arc. His bond with Chuuta is the most significant; though he acts as a villain, his antagonism is largely a front to complete his mission and protect his friend. He is relieved to see that Chuuta has not changed and is glad that he is part of a good organization like ēlDLIVE. He also maintains a connection to his past through his mother, secretly returning home to leave her a photo and a pin, signaling he is alive and asking her not to blame Chuuta for the accident.

Throughout the story, Gucchi undergoes notable development, moving from a seemingly bitter antagonist to a tragic ally. His apparent cruelty is revealed to be an act, and his ultimate loyalty remains with his childhood friends. He expresses a desire to one day reunite with Chuuta, Michiyo, and Matsutarou, with each of them searching from their respective sides.

As a Demille executive and ship captain, Gucchi wields considerable power through his SPH abilities. He can materialize black blades known as D Blades from his hands, which possess destructive capabilities and can also be used to surgically separate a symbiotic being from its host without killing either, as well as extract the host's data. His other ability allows him to create black, spherical SPH Bombs; when detonated, these bombs release a cloud of black smoke that knocks people unconscious and makes them appear as if they have died, though the effect is non-lethal.
