TV-Series
Description
Break is a character from the Hand Shakers series, whose real name is Reijirou Araki, though he is primarily known by his code name. He is an eighteen-year-old male with brown eyes and brown hair that falls to his neck. His birthday is on October 27th, and he stands at a height of 173 centimeters.
Break is defined by a highly aggressive, violent, and battle-hungry personality. He is extremely combative and views conflicts as a hunt, often taunting his opponents with declarations that they should wait to be hunted down. His nature is not merely confrontational but also cruel and sadistic, particularly in how he interacts with his partner. He holds a philosophy centered on power, believing in dominating others and using force to achieve his desires.
In the story, Break is a Hand Shaker who, along with his partner Bind, enters the battles within the Ziggurat to have a wish granted. He serves as one of the first significant antagonists encountered by the main characters, Tazuna and Koyori. He attacks them without mercy, even though Tazuna has just become a Hand Shaker and does not yet understand the situation. During their initial fight, Break initially has the advantage, but he is ultimately overwhelmed and defeated by Tazuna after the protagonist manifests his own Nimrod weapon. Following this defeat, he is transported to a hospital arranged by the character Makihara and recovers from his injuries.
The most defining relationship for Break is with his partner and teammate, Bind Chain. Their dynamic is one of absolute control and submission. Break dominates Bind completely, using his power to keep her in a state of bondage and subservience. His methods are described as physically abusive, and he treats Bind as a tool to draw out more power for their fights, representing a stark example of a power-based, unhealthy partnership among Hand Shakers. Despite this cruelty, Bind is depicted as being obsessed with Break's power, creating a codependent and toxic relationship.
While Break begins as a violent aggressor, later developments show a significant transformation in his character. After retiring from active battles as a Hand Shaker, he and Yukine, who is his partner Bind, adopt a baby named Yukiya Araki under unusual circumstances. Knowing that Yukiya is an unusual Hand Shaker, Break dedicates himself to protecting the child from the dangers associated with that existence. He strictly instructs Yukiya to avoid physical contact with others to prevent unwanted battles. In this new phase of life, he works as a sound technician and supports Yukiya's passion for DJing and house music. Although he retains a hot-headed temperament, this later portrayal reveals a fundamentally caring and protective core beneath his formerly violent exterior, driven by strong paternal instincts. He maintains connections to his past, attending events like the wedding of former Hand Shaker rivals, but his primary mission becomes shielding his adopted son from the world he once fought within.
As a fighter, Break wields an exceptionally long chain as his weapon, a tool that reflects his code name, as Chain is part of his full alias. He uses this weapon for long-range attacks, employing throwing and wrapping techniques to bind and control his opponents in combat. His aggressive fighting style is designed to overwhelm and psychologically dominate his enemies, living up to his self-image as a hunter.
