Description
Kurogo Kurusu is a fifteen-year-old high school student with an intense and often overwhelming passion for kabuki, the classical Japanese theater form. His love for kabuki was instilled at a very young age by his grandfather, and he has immersed himself in its traditions, performance techniques, and history ever since. At school, he discovers that there is no kabuki club, which drives him to take action. Determined to share his enthusiasm and bring the art to a wider audience, he sets out to establish a kabuki club from scratch. His personality is straightforward and simple-minded; he is upbeat and wears his passion on his sleeve, sometimes to the point of annoying those around him. Despite this, his sincerity and unwavering dedication gradually win over others. He is creative and not afraid to experiment, seeking ways to blend modern sensibilities with traditional kabuki to make it more accessible to his peers. As the founder and driving force of the kabuki club, Kurogo takes on the role of de facto leader and central performer. His key relationship is with his childhood friend and neighbor Tonbo Murase, who becomes the first person he enlists to help recruit members and later serves as a reliable support. Through the series, Kurogo faces the challenge of convincing fellow students that a centuries-old art form can be exciting and relevant. He grows from a solo enthusiast into a capable leader who learns to listen to others, delegate responsibilities, and channel his passion into collective growth. His notable abilities include a deep and extensive knowledge of kabuki, natural acting talent, and a gift for motivating people with his infectious enthusiasm. By the end of his journey, Kurogo not only manages to form a functioning club but also stages performances that reflect both his respect for tradition and his innovative spirit, cementing his place as the heart of the kabuki club.
