Description
Peckett, also romanized as Peket and known in Japanese as Peketto, is a supporting character in the anime Heybot!. He is a blue Voca Bot, one of the robot-like beings who inhabit the world of the series, and he carries a red screw called the Peke Peke Neji in his head, a screw said to be one of only one in the world, much like the similar screw possessed by the protagonist Heybot. He first appears near the end of the twenty-second episode, traveling by ship alongside his partner Chigiru, and he comes before the main character Nejiru and his companions in the following episode.
Peckett presents himself as the self-proclaimed younger brother of Heybot, and he addresses Heybot with an affectionate term meaning big brother. His speech is one of his most recognizable traits, as he uses the word peke as his first-person pronoun and habitually adds peke to the end of his sentences. In terms of personality, he is described as quite cunning and calculating, using his small, seemingly innocent demeanor and his claim of brotherhood to his advantage. Despite this scheming side, he is deeply attached to those close to him and takes on a responsible role in the group dynamic.
His background is marked by hardship. He vaguely explains that all sorts of things happened to him, and he spent a long period traveling around the world before being taken in by Queen Naguri Dotsuki. The queen appointed him as the tutor and caretaker of Chigiru, which explains why he serves as the boy's partner and constant companion. This backstory gives him a sense of loyalty and duty beneath his crafty exterior, and his bond with Chigiru becomes one of his defining relationships.
Within the story, Peckett functions as an important supporting presence who joins the main cast after his introduction, taking part in the wordplay-based battles and adventures that drive the series. He shares a brother-like dynamic with Heybot, whom he looks up to and calls his older brother, and he interacts regularly with Nejiru and the other recurring characters. His growth is shown through his transition from a wandering figure with a troubled past into a dependable partner and guardian figure who finds a place within the group.
His notable abilities center on his unique Peke Peke Neji, which parallels Heybot's own special screw. The series' combination system includes a Hyper Combo and an Ultra Combo associated with Peckett, and even the Eto Voca Bots, a group of special beings based on the zodiac, are capable of combining with him as well as with Heybot, though they regard it as an unexpected possibility. He also has a signature bodily gag that mirrors Heybot's own: just as Heybot is known for releasing powerful flatulence, Peckett can forcibly release a powerful stream of urine, a recurring joke in his appearances.
