Description
Mi Liu is the central protagonist of the anime Bloodivores. He is a male teenager, approximately sixteen to seventeen years old, with a slender build and a height of around 1.70 meters. He is visually distinguished by his short gray hair and purple eyes. As a half-bloodivore and half-human, he carries the unique designation of the Child of Hope, a title bestowed upon him due to his mixed heritage, which positions him as a potential bridge between the human and vampire species.

His background is marked by personal loss and abandonment. As a young child, he idolized his father, Mi Tenju, viewing him as a hero and role model. However, when Mi Liu was only five years old, his father left him for the greater good of humanity, an event that nearly cost Mi Liu his life and left a deep emotional scar. His mother is Shimon Guching. He grew up in an orphanage alongside his three close friends: Anji, Win Chao, and Chen Fong. In his adolescence, he acted as the ringleader of a bank robbery carried out with his friends. The robbery ended in failure, and the four were vilified for killing all the humans inside, leading to their capture and sentencing. Mi Liu was subsequently transferred to a special prison operated by the National Defense Agency, a facility designed to monitor and contain vampires. The prison itself is located in the old capital known as Blue Town, which is also the birthplace of the vampires.

In terms of personality, Mi Liu presents a layered character. He is generally reserved about certain topics and can be cautious about revealing his inner thoughts. At the same time, he is often cheerful and charismatic, capable of drawing others to him with his demeanor. He is deeply loyal to his friends and is always willing to help them. This loyalty is most intense regarding Anji, his closest companion. He is prepared to betray anyone, even his other friends, if they attempt to harm her. This fierce protective instinct is one of his defining emotional drivers. His motivations are rooted in his desire to protect those he cares about, especially Anji, and to navigate the conflict between humans and bloodivores as a figure of hope. He is driven to understand the mysteries surrounding the vampires, the strange monsters that attack him, and the true nature of Blue Town.

Throughout the story, Mi Liu undergoes development as he confronts the reality of his heritage and the dangers surrounding him. His role in the narrative is that of a catalyst for change and a symbol of possible coexistence between species. He is not merely a passive symbol, however, as he actively fights to solve the mysteries of the vampires and survive the threats he encounters. Key relationships anchor his journey. His bond with Anji is the most significant, representing a source of strength and vulnerability. His friendships with Win Chao and Chen Fong form the core of his support group, though his loyalty to Anji can override these ties. His relationship with his absent father is a source of unresolved pain and motivation.

Notable abilities are tied to his mixed nature and are triggered under extreme life-threatening circumstances. He possesses a power that is framed as a rare but not unique skill among bloodivores, developed when his life is in immediate danger. This power, sometimes referred to in connection with hemomancy or blood manipulation, allows him to perform extraordinary feats, such as using bullets in a controlled and resourceful manner. He also wears a collar around his neck, a common restraint for bloodivores, which becomes red when he is perceived as a threat or is about to lose control.
