Kenji Akabane is a Japanese voice actor born on October 31, 1984, in Chiba Prefecture, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. Akabane stands 168 cm tall and has O-type blood.
Akabane's path to a voice acting career began after he failed his university entrance exams. He heard a commercial for a voice actor correspondence course on the radio, which inspired him to pursue the profession. He subsequently enrolled in and graduated from the Amusement Media General Institute. His first credited roles after joining Aoni Production were minor characters in 2006, with his first role upon joining the agency being a character named Vegetable 2 in the 2008 series Hataraki Kids My Ham-gumi. His first major leading role came in 2009 when he was cast as Koji Kabuto in the television anime Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen.
Akabane has built an extensive portfolio of roles across anime, film, and video games. Among his most prominent anime television roles are Shinichi Sakurai in Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!, Shigeo Chiarai in Komi Can't Communicate, and Lugh in The World's Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in a Different World as an Aristocrat. He has also voiced Teppei across multiple seasons of Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki, Rokurō Wakamura in World Trigger, and Valery Kaminski in Sakura Wars the Animation. In the long-running franchise Cardfight!! Vanguard, he plays the role of Kenji Mitsusada. He has been a recurring presence in the Senki Zesshō Symphogear series, voicing the character Sakuya Fujitaka.
