Description
Lihaku is a young military officer serving in the imperial palace guard, the son of an important official who moved to the imperial capital. He is a rising figure in the Outer Court, recognized for his diligence and abilities. Physically, he is tall and handsome with a muscular build from frequent training, short black hair, and onyx-colored eyes. His personality is straightforward, good-natured, honest, and likable, often described as dog-like in his loyalty and simplicity. He is brave and capable in combat but naive and easily outmaneuvered in matters of subterfuge, frequently outwitted by Maomao, who nicknames him Pack Dog. His primary motivation is his deep love for Pairin, a courtesan from the Verdigris House, and he works tirelessly to earn enough money to buy her freedom, even though the sum is far beyond his yearly salary. In the story, Lihaku first appears at a garden party in the first season, where he gives Maomao a hair stick, a gesture she uses to trick him into allowing her to visit her hometown. He goes on to assist Maomao during investigations, participates in the suppression of the rebel Loulan, captures an assassin targeting Jinshi, and leads an ambush against the Shi clan. He serves as a guard in the Northern Province during a hunt and is the leader of his own small military unit. His key relationships include Maomao, whom he respects despite being tricked; Pairin, his romantic interest; and Jinshi, who takes an active interest in his career and gives him important assignments. Over time, Lihaku demonstrates growth as a loyal and capable soldier, his genuine heart and dedication earning him a place among the supporting cast, even though his screen time becomes limited after the first season. His notable abilities lie in physical strength, combat prowess, and leadership on the battlefield, making him a rising star in the military hierarchy.
