Description
Makoto Tomura is a supporting character in Battery the Animation. He serves as the coach of the Nitta East Junior High School baseball team, where he is known for his strict demeanor and is well respected by his students and players. In his youth, Tomura was a baseball player himself, playing primarily as a batter. He was coached by Yozo Ioka until his second year of middle school and continues to hold a deep respect for him. As a coach and teacher, Tomura has a reputation that inspires both respect and a degree of fear among his students, but he is also regarded as highly knowledgeable about the sport. He often takes an active role in training, participating directly in practice sessions rather than solely directing from the sidelines. Tomura has black hair and grey eyes. His role in the story is that of an authoritative figure who guides and challenges the young baseball players, particularly the protagonist Takumi Harada, as they develop their skills and navigate the pressures of middle school baseball. His own past as a player and his ongoing reverence for his former coach inform his approach to coaching, emphasizing discipline and respect for the game. Beyond providing tactical and technical instruction, Tomura's presence reinforces the standards and expectations that drive the team's growth.
