Description
Laphicet Crowe is the younger brother of Velvet Crowe and the late Celica Crowe. He was born with a frail constitution, suffering from periodic fevers that left him bedridden for much of his short life. Despite his physical weakness, Laphicet was a bright and kindhearted boy with a strong will. He loved reading books, as his illness confined him to his bed, and he often dreamed of one day traveling across the sea and exploring the world. After the death of their eldest sister Celica, he lived with Velvet and his brother-in-law Artorius Collbrande, whom he trusted deeply.

Laphicet's primary role in the story is that of a catalyst. Three years before the main events of the anime, Artorius sacrificed him during an event known as the Crimson Night to resurrect the god Innominat. This event shattered Velvet and set her on a path of vengeance against Artorius and the Abbey. Laphicet himself had no active part in the conflict; his innocence and tragic death serve as the emotional foundation for Velvet's journey and the overarching narrative of the Berseria arc within Tales of Zestiria the X.

Laphicet's key relationships are defined by his family. He was especially close to Velvet, who acted as his caretaker, and he looked up to Artorius as a protective figure. His bond with Velvet remains central even after his death, as her grief and desire to avenge him drive her actions throughout the story. He had no notable combat abilities, being a normal human child, and his development is limited to the backstory that establishes his gentle nature and the injustice of his fate. His memory and the love Velvet held for him continue to influence her decisions and the malak Laphicet who later takes his name.
