TV-Series
Description
Ayano Anemori is the central protagonist of her story. As a member of the Anti-Fiarem Specialists Unit known as the Ragna Strikers, she is one of a select group of young women capable of growing to enormous size to battle the colossal creatures threatening humanity.
In her daily life, Ayano is characterized by a deep love for the comfort and security of her own home. She has a strong tendency to be spoiled and free-spirited, often described as a shut-in who greatly prefers staying indoors to any form of outdoor activity. This aversion to leaving her house is one of her defining traits, and she is frequently seen relaxing under a kotatsu, a heated table, which she finds almost impossible to leave. Her reluctance to venture out is so pronounced that she has been known to fall asleep or pretend to be asleep when called upon for duty.
Despite her powerful desire for a sedentary life, Ayano possesses a strong and genuine sense of justice. This moral core is her primary motivation, as it compels her to overcome her personal preferences and fight against the Fiarem in order to protect the world. This internal conflict between her desire for a peaceful, lazy existence and her duty as a warrior forms the heart of her character.
In her role within the Ragna Strikers, Ayano acts as the main fighter and a symbol of hope for her team. While she often complains about being sent into battle and wishes she could stay at home, she ultimately answers the call when it matters most. Her heroic nature is most evident in the face of overwhelming odds; when her fellow Ragna Strikers begin to lose hope against a particularly powerful enemy, Ayano is the one who refuses to give up, inspiring a final counterattack. Her development throughout the story is subtle but present, as she consistently chooses responsibility over comfort when the stakes are highest.
Ayano shares key relationships with the other members of her unit. She is close with her teammate Hinata, with whom she has been known to engage in tickle fights, which often result in both of them falling asleep together. She also interacts with other Strikers like Izuki and Moka, who scold her for being late and rely on her in combat, and Kasumi, who is frequently tasked with the job of physically waking Ayano up. The command staff, including Rio and Erenoa, monitor her missions and provide support from the headquarters. Her connection to an unseen figure known as the "Spec Ops Officer" is also crucial, as merging her mind with this person through the "Mind Drive" system makes the Ragna Strikers invincible in battle, with Ayano's hair clips beginning to glow to signal this activation.
In terms of notable abilities, Ayano can utilize a technology called the Deva System. During an emergency dispatch, she falls onto a platform that transports her to a giant bath, where a laser from this system strikes her, causing her to grow to a height of 38 meters. In this giant form, she wears a special combat suit and wields a blaster rifle as her primary weapon. Her combat style is direct and physical; she has been seen kicking a Fiarem in the face with enough force to send it crashing into a building. When she becomes serious in a fight, her demeanor shifts from reluctant to determined, showcasing her true capabilities as a warrior.
