TV-Series
Description
Meisaku Matsuda is the main protagonist of the series. He is an ordinary boy who enrolls at Ryūgū Elementary School, a long-established and prestigious institution famed for producing many remarkable and masterful characters throughout its history. His name carries the meaning of "masterpiece," a title given to him by his parents with the hope that he would one day become a splendid masterpiece character himself.

Despite the ambition embedded in his name, Meisaku is an average and completely mediocre student, at least when compared to the extraordinary environment he finds himself in. He does not possess the extreme quirks or eccentricities that define his peers, which forces him to constantly take on the role of the straight man. He is often left in a state of exasperation, muttering to himself about being the most normal person around, as he reacts to the chaotic and dim-witted behavior of his classmates. His personality is grounded and sensible, marked by a quiet patience that is frequently tested by the absurd situations that unfold around him. His primary hobby is reading alone in the library, a solitary activity that contrasts sharply with the high-energy antics of his school life.

His main motivation throughout the story is to survive his school life and ultimately graduate from Ryūgū Elementary as a splendid masterpiece character. He strives to find his own unique quality that will allow him to fit in and succeed, though he is constantly overshadowed by the more overtly "masterpiece" traits of his friends.

In the story, Meisaku acts as the anchor for the audience. He is the normal protagonist navigating a world of chaos, and his perspective provides the narrative framework for the comedy. The entire premise hinges on his reactions to the other students. His role is not to drive the absurdity, but to be the calm center around which the storm of eccentricity swirls, highlighting just how unusual his classmates truly are.

His key relationships are defined by his role as the reactor to the school's most prominent personalities. He is surrounded by a group of unique characters including Sweets, the energetic and high-tension class idiot; Musubi, a living rice ball who becomes angry when called by the common term "onigiri"; Nokio, a narcissistic, self-proclaimed robot; and Bolt, a large, muscular turtle who boasts incredible speed that can outpace a rabbit. His dynamic with each of them typically involves him trying to correct, rationalize, or simply endure their peculiar fixations. Information about his family is limited, but he does have parents and a younger sister named Mei, though they rarely appear in the story.

Regarding his development over the course of the series, Meisaku remains a steadfast and consistent character. His primary struggle is an ongoing one, as he continuously strives to find his own path to becoming a masterpiece while being perpetually pulled into the antics of his classmates. He has no notable superhuman or supernatural abilities. His primary strength is his own normalcy and his sharp wit, which he uses to perform his duties as the straight man, pointing out the flaws and fallacies in his friends' bizarre actions.
