Description
Asami Hanasakiri is a fictional character from the second season of the anime series Active Raid. She is a young police officer who joins the special unit at the center of the story.
At only nineteen years of age, Asami holds the rank of Assistant Inspector, a testament to her exceptional academic and exam scores, which she achieved after returning from studying overseas. Her background as a highly promising, elite recruit is central to her initial demeanor. Lacking significant field experience, she relies heavily on her flawless simulated training results, which contributes to a personality that is proud, ambitious, and somewhat confrontational.
Asami is characterized by a strong, almost rigid sense of justice and a clear vision of how a law enforcement organization should operate. This makes her initially dismissive and critical of the unconventional and often messy methods employed by the unit she is assigned to. Her primary motivation upon joining is twofold. Officially, she is a new operative, but she carries a secret directive from her superiors: to observe the unit, assess its effectiveness, and report her findings, which will directly influence the decision to disband or retain the department. She harbors a personal ambition to mold the group into a more disciplined and traditionally righteous organization.
Her role in the story begins as an outsider and a potential threat to the unit's existence. She serves as a narrative device to challenge the established order and the methods of the veteran members. Asami's early interactions are marked by her attempts to apply strict rules and procedures, which often clash with the practical, improvisational style of her new colleagues. However, her stubborn and overly serious nature is shown to coexist with a more flustered and less composed side when things do not go according to plan. Over time, her experiences in the field force her to confront the gap between theoretical simulations and real-world crises, leading to significant personal growth. She gradually learns to trust her teammates and moves from being an outside inspector to an integrated and valued member of the team. By the events of the second season, Asami has progressed to a leadership role, having been transferred to Osaka to serve as the chief of a newly established, similar unit.
As a frontline operative, Asami pilots a Willware, the powered exoskeleton suits used for law enforcement. Her unit is the Oscar VI, a latest-generation, female-oriented model that shares a similar frame to the standard Oscar I but is equipped with specialized electronic warfare and interference functions. Her notable ability with this suit includes a combat technique known as the "Isshunatorei" or "Instant Shout," which she uses to subdue criminals. Her key relationships evolve most significantly with the members of the unit she was sent to judge, transforming from a rival who questions their legitimacy to a reliable ally who understands their value.
