Description
Amane Ayashiro is a main character from the Blue World, which is the version of Earth within her universe. She is an Alpha Driver, also known as an A-Driver, a special type of individual with the ability to form bonds with girls called Progress and greatly enhance their superpowers during combat.
In terms of personality, Amane is known for being extremely clumsy and goofy, often presenting a carefree and ditzy exterior. Despite this, she is deeply kindhearted, optimistic, and frequently tries to encourage her teammates, acting as the emotional core or the heart of her group. Her motivations are closely tied to her role as an Alpha Driver and her partner, Saya Sougetsu. She is deeply committed to supporting Saya, to the point of secretly subjecting herself to extreme training regimes and deliberately increasing the damage feedback from their link to make Saya feel special and capable.
Amane's role in the story is primarily as a supporter and mission control for her team during battles. Early in the series, she is a prominent figure, but after the third episode, she is sealed within a crystal by the antagonistic Ouroboros, a development that serves as a major turning point for the narrative and a source of motivation for the other characters. While she is physically absent for a significant portion of the plot, her presence continues to influence events and other characters, such as Saya. Her own internal struggles are later explored, including her feelings of loneliness and isolation, which manifested in an alternate dimension she created as an escape. The resolution of her character arc comes near the finale, where she receives proper development and plays a role in the final battle.
Regarding key relationships, her most significant bond is with Saya Sougetsu, the Progress she is partnered with. She also shares a close and affectionate relationship with Almaria, a vampire from the Black World, towards whom she has confessed her love. She interacts warmly with other team members like the angels Elel and Ramiel, as well as Stella, a robotic fighter.
As an Alpha Driver, Amane's notable abilities are centered on empowering others. She can supercharge the powers of the Progress on her team. A key aspect of this ability is a form of synchronization where she feels some of the damage inflicted on her team members during battle, a mechanic that underscores the deep and self-sacrificing nature of her dedication.
