Description
Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova is a character from the anime and manga series Drifters. She is based on the historical figure who was the youngest daughter of Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia. In the world of Drifters, Anastasia is a teenager, having been seventeen years old at the time of her death. She and her family were executed by a Bolshevik firing squad, an event that led to her being transported to the fantasy world where the series takes place as one of the Ends, also known as the Offscourings, who serve the Black King.

Anastasia is most frequently depicted as an emotionless and cold-blooded individual who displays little overt interest in the larger war between the Ends and the Drifters. She is collected and composed, especially when contrasted with her fellow End, Joan of Arc, who is hot-tempered and rash. This difference in temperament often leads to disagreements between the two women, particularly regarding how to handle the threat posed by the Drifters. Despite her outward lack of emotion, there are hints of deeper feelings. The mystic Rasputin, a close associate, notes that she was angered when Joan of Arc was injured in battle against the Drifter Toyohisa Shimazu, a suggestion that Anastasia herself immediately denies. She also harbors a distinct dislike for Japan and its people, a sentiment rooted in the historical humiliation of the Russian Empire's defeat in the Russo-Japanese War, and she views the samurai as barbaric warriors.

Anastasia is almost never seen without her old acquaintance, Grigori Rasputin, by her side. She appears to be able to speak her mind freely with him, and their relationship is a key aspect of her role within the Black King's army. Her primary role in the story is as a powerful member of the Ends, carrying out the orders of the Black King without hesitation. She is first seen using her abilities to assist the Black King's army in subjugating a castle, freezing its human occupants to death.

Her most notable ability is the power to create supernatural blizzards and snowstorms. This power is devastatingly effective, capable of instantly freezing and killing targets. She can deploy this ability on a large scale, making her a formidable weapon for the Ends' cause. Driven mad by the massacre of her family, Anastasia now seems to wield this chilling power with the intent of burying the world beneath ice and snow. Her development within the series is subtle, largely revolving around her controlled but nonetheless present reactions to the events unfolding around her, particularly those involving her ally Joan of Arc.
