Description
Klaud Nine is the only female Exorcist General in the Black Order, a high-ranking exorcist originally from the United States. Before becoming a General, she worked as an animal trainer in a circus, a background that influences her unique abilities. She is a woman of above-average height with a slim, fit build, blonde hair, and light-colored eyes—depicted as purple in the first anime and a lighter blue in D.Gray-man Hallow. A distinctive X-shaped scar runs across the upper part of her face, meeting between her eyes. She is almost always seen with her small monkey-like companion, Lau Shimin, a sentient parasitic-type Innocence that can transform into a powerful combat form capable of firing energy blasts.

Klaud Nine is portrayed as a kind, gentle, and caring person, deeply affected by the loss of her subordinates. She wept openly for the members of her team—Sol Galen, Tina Spark, and Gwen Frere—who were killed by the Noah Tyki Mikk while searching for her. Despite her compassion, she carries herself with a calm and reserved demeanor, speaking little but acting with conviction. Her primary motivation is to protect humanity and fulfill her duty as a General, leading her unit and training younger exorcists such as Timothy Hearst, whom she takes as her apprentice. She is the leader of the Nine Unit and operates within the European Branch of the Black Order.

Klaud’s role in the story is that of a supporting figure, one of the five Generals who command the organization’s forces and oversee critical missions. Her relationship with Lau Shimin is central; it is the first sentient Innocence shown in the series, reflecting her circus background in its obedient, animal-like form. While her personal development is not heavily explored on screen, her resilience in the face of tragedy and her continued dedication to the cause highlight her strength of character. Her abilities extend beyond her Innocence to include skill in animal handling and leadership, making her a respected and vital member of the Black Order’s command structure.
