Description
Emilio Langheim is a sixteen-year-old prince from the kingdom of Endra in the world of Endora. He is characterized by a reserved and often cynical demeanor, which makes him seem more mature than his age. This outward coldness masks a deeply wounded individual, driven almost entirely by a single-minded quest for revenge. As a child, Emilio was kind and idolized King Delzaine, his foster father. This changed drastically when he overheard palace servants pitying him for looking up to the man who murdered his biological father, King Alzerm, to seize the throne. From that moment, his personality shifted, and his affection turned into a burning hatred.
Emilio’s central motivation is to avenge his father’s death by killing King Delzaine. Having just reached the age where he can legally inherit the throne, he launches an assassination attempt, but his skills are no match for the king, and he is quickly overpowered and thrown into the castle dungeons. It is in his prison cell that he first encounters Shun Asanaga, a boy from the surface world who appears through a spatial distortion. Emilio initially views Shun as a convenient tool—a powerful ally with a mysterious weapon known as a Warp Relic—who can help him achieve his revenge. In exchange, he promises to help Shun find a way back to his own world.
The relationship between Emilio and Shun forms the core of his role in the story. They are a classic odd couple; Emilio is glum and jaded, while Shun is optimistic and brash, leading to constant bickering and even fistfights. Despite their mutual irritation, they become fire-forged friends. As they journey together, escaping the castle and later joining a revolutionary group called the Ignauts, Emilio begins to warm up to Shun, eventually considering him a best friend and fighting alongside him as a back-to-back badass. His other key relationships include his childhood friend Alicia, who harbors feelings for him, and his former tutor Pascal, a scientist who serves as a genuine father figure and tries to steer him away from his destructive path of vengeance. A significant revelation later in the series establishes that Shun is actually Emilio's cousin, further complicating their bond.
In terms of abilities, Emilio wields a powerful Warp Relic: a spear named Katakaragu, which is noted for its extreme sharpness and high attack damage. He is depicted wearing a distinctive purple long coat with an open front and soft fur at the collar, and he also carries a knife given to him by Pascal. Emilio undergoes significant development throughout the narrative. He begins as a character consumed by revenge before reason, giving no thought to what would happen to his kingdom after the king is dead—a flaw that multiple characters, including the Ignaut leader Demetrio, point out to him. His worldview is repeatedly challenged, forcing him to understand the wider injustices of Endora, such as the enslavement of the beast-people, the Zoozians. The climax of his personal arc occurs not with the success of his revenge, but with its failure; when King Delzaine dies protecting Emilio from another villain, he is left with profound grief and regret over the loss of a second father figure. This event breaks his haughty and arrogant shell, forcing him to finally grow up and consider a future beyond his vendetta.
