Description
Masaki is the main female protagonist of the anime The Lost Village. She is a seventeen-year-old student who joins the bus tour to the mysterious Nanakimura along with 29 other individuals, each seeking to start a new life or escape their past. Masaki has a bright and earnest personality but is also considered strange by others; she firmly believes in her own thoughts and is prone to emotional outbursts. She suffers from motion sickness, which causes her to vomit on the bus driver's uniform during the journey, inadvertently defusing a tense situation. It is implied that Masaki may possess an unusual ability to sense or see things related to the future, though this is never directly demonstrated in the series. Her motivations are ambiguous at first, but she becomes closely involved with Mitsumune, the male lead, whom she helps escape from captivity by setting a controlled fire as a distraction. Later, she guides Mitsumune toward a train tunnel where she claims he must confront his past. As tensions rise within the group, rumors spread that Masaki is a ghost, leading to her being captured and tied to a post by the others, who believe that harming her will stop the monstrous manifestations. She is saved by the bus driver just before she can be killed. In a crucial moment, Masaki reveals a story about her first arrival in Nanaki, and a news article surfaces reporting that she had been missing for years, deepening the mystery surrounding her identity. Throughout the series, Masaki acts as a catalyst for unraveling the village's secrets and for Mitsumune's personal growth, though her true nature and background remain enigmatic until the final episodes.
