Description
Midori, also known as Midori Save the World, is a classmate of Luluco and serves as a tritagonist in Space Patrol Luluco. She is a middle school student living in the intergalactic melting pot of Ogikubo, a special space immigration zone. Midori initially appears as a fairly normal schoolmate, but she is secretly the publisher of an illegal Blackhole App, an activity that leads to her being caught by the Space Patrol. To avoid punishment for her crime, she volunteers to join the Space Patrol, a decision that also allows her to spend more time beside the transfer student AΩ Nova, toward whom she has a notable infatuation.

Midori’s heritage is hinted at by her distinctive green skin, marking her as half-alien and half-human. She was once the commanding leader of a middle school delinquent crew, indicating a history of rebelliousness. Her personality is greedy and self-centered, traits that align with her being descended from royalty. She does not tolerate the often harebrained methods of the Space Patrol and is openly critical of the organization’s conduct and moral stance. Despite her selfish tendencies, she functions as a capable member of the patrol, participating in missions alongside Luluco and Nova. Her motivations are largely driven by self-interest—avoiding punishment and pursuing her crush—yet she remains a consistent presence in the trio’s adventures.

Within the story, Midori’s role expands from a minor classmate to an active member of the Space Patrol team, frequently voicing her dissatisfaction with the chaotic missions she is thrust into. Her key relationships include her rivalry-turned-teammateship with Luluco, who is initially dismayed by Midori’s forced enlistment, and her romantic interest in Nova, which fuels much of her personal motivation. Over the course of the series, Midori shows little dramatic personal growth, but she demonstrates a pragmatic adaptability to the absurd situations she encounters. She possesses no extraordinary combat abilities; her contributions come from her shrewdness and willingness to speak her mind. Ultimately, Midori stands as a foil to Luluco’s earnestness, adding a layer of pragmatic cynicism to the group dynamic.
