Mayumi Shintani is a Japanese actress and voice actress born on November 6, 1975, in Hiroshima Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Nylon100°C and began her career in the entertainment industry in the 1990s. In addition to her voice work, she is also a member of a theatrical company, highlighting her foundation in live-action performance.

Shintani's voice acting career features a wide array of roles across anime series, films, and video games. Her debut anime role came in 1998 as Tsubasa Shibahime in the series His and Her Circumstances. She gained recognition for iconic parts in the early 2000s, including Haruko Haruhara in FLCL and Lolo in Brigadoon: Marin & Melan. In the 2010s, she portrayed the arrogant and musically inclined Nonon Jakuzure in the popular action series Kill la Kill, one of her most notable performances. She also lent her voice to Miss Shamour in the magical girl franchise Go! Princess Precure and to Wendy in Black Butler: Book of Circus.

Shintani has also been active in animated films and recent series. She played San Hojo in the critically acclaimed historical film In This Corner of the World. In collaboration with studio Trigger, she voiced the mechanic Lucia Fex in the feature film Promare and its sequel short. Other prominent roles include Azumi Azuma in Matoi the Sacred Slayer, Mion in Battle Game in 5 Seconds, Orie Takarada (also known as Rikka's mother) in SSSS.Gridman and its film sequel Gridman Universe, and Zora in the short Kaiju Decode. Earlier in her career, she also voiced Daisy in the Guardian Hearts OVA series and Upah in the Pokémon special Pichu Bros. in Party Panic.

Beyond anime, Shintani has an extensive career in video game voice acting. She is known to gamers as the voice of Ángel in The King of Fighters 2002 and its updated version, as well as Giovanna in the fighting game Guilty Gear -Strive-. Her other game credits include Nico in Jade Cocoon 2, Aimee Matchlock in Bravely Second: End Layer, and Alchemist Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom. She has also appeared in live-action films, such as playing the villain Scarlet Claw in Cutie Honey and making a cameo in Sinking of Japan.
