Description
Akira Yamatoga, known as Akira Yamabuki in the original Japanese version, is a character from the anime Beyblade Burst. He is a short, spirited blader with an athletic and agile build. He has light-toned skin, messy pink hair, and darker magenta eyes, contributing to an androgynous appearance. His outfit typically consists of an orange and white pin-striped vest over a yellow v-neck shirt with blue-accentuated sleeves. He also wears a long scarf of a similar coloration with blue stripes, casual brown pants, olive-colored knee-high boots, black fingerless gloves, and striped white socks.

As a blader, Akira is also a pop idol who is adored by his many fans and loves being in the spotlight. He has a cheerful and outgoing personality, but is also highly competitive with a strong fighting spirit. He is an impressive rapper known for putting on a show for the crowd and is quite agile, capable of performing multiple backflips in a row.

Akira’s primary motivation is to become the most famous pop star in the world. He initially believes that he can easily topple Zac from his position as a member of the Supreme Four and the greatest pop star, stating that once he got a taste of the spotlight, he could never go back. His role in the story is primarily as a rival to Zac, whom he challenges in the quarter-finals of a major tournament. He makes an over-the-top entrance for this battle, performing flips and rapping about his guaranteed victory with his Beyblade.

Akira’s most significant relationship is with Zac. He admires Zac and aspires to follow in his footsteps in order to eventually surpass him. He is undeterred by Zac’s often dismissive attitude and is one of the few people who can rattle him, even being the first person to refer to Zac by his real name, Zachary Kaneguro. Akira teases Zac about being old news but is surprised by the determination Zac shows to defeat him. After losing to Zac, Akira acknowledges his defeat, and the two come to respect one another, with Akira deciding to look up to the Supreme Four member for inspiration instead of trying to rush his own success. Akira is later visibly saddened when Zac loses and decides to retire, and he is happy to return Zac’s Zeutron Beyblade to him when Zac announces his return to the sport.

Throughout his appearance, Akira shows development by learning humility. After his defeat, he realizes he may have bitten off more than he could chew and decides to slowly build up his career rather than seeking instant success. He evolves from an overconfident challenger to a respectful rival who can acknowledge the skill of those he aims to surpass.

Akira’s Beyblade is Atlas Anubion Yell Orbit (also known as Anubion A2 Yell Orbit). His special move is called Perfect Circle, where Anubion uses its incredible stability to release all of its defensive power in a powerful attack.
