Description
Aiger Akabane, known as Aiga Akaba in Japan, is a central character in the Beyblade Burst series. He first appears as the main protagonist of Beyblade Burst Turbo, where his journey as a Blader begins after witnessing the strength of Valt Aoi. Inspired by Valt, Aiger forges his own Turbo Beyblade, Z Achilles 11 Xtend, and sets out to challenge and eventually defeat his idol. His relentless ambition drives him to secure the World Champion title through tactical brilliance and the corrupted power of his Beyblade, a victory that comes with significant consequences.
Physically, Aiger has lighter skin, turquoise eyes, and maroon hair and eyebrows. He is distinguished by a red letter A tattoo on his left cheek and several bandage strips on his face. His appearance evolves across seasons: in Turbo he wears a burgundy Letterman jacket, black shorts with suspenders, and burgundy sneakers, later adding a dark-blue hand brace to his left wrist after battling Valt. In Rise, Surge, and QuadStrike, he grows taller and updates his wardrobe to long-sleeved jackets, patched jeans, and redesigned footwear, retaining a celestial-blue hand brace on his left wrist. When Aiger achieves resonance with his Beyblade, his hair turns crimson and breaks free from its usual rubber band.
Aiger’s personality undergoes a dramatic transformation. Initially hot-headed and fiercely competitive, he loathes losing. Growing up on a farm, he bonds deeply with animals, even sleeping in Beigoma Academy’s petting zoo to remain near them. A critical shift occurs when his Achilles is corrupted by a dark aura from the antagonist Phi, making him ruthless, stubborn, and willing to push his Beyblade beyond its limits. This culminates in the destruction of Valt’s Wonder Valtryek. The destruction of his own Beyblade, Z Achilles, serves as a turning point, restoring his calmer, more sportsmanlike demeanor. In subsequent seasons, he matures further, accepting losses gracefully and being more open to advice, though occasional overconfidence remains.
Aiger’s Beyblades evolve across the series. Turbo features Z Achilles 11 Xtend, upgraded to Z Achilles 11 Xtend+ (later destroyed by Phi), then Turbo Achilles 00 Dimension. Rise introduces Union Achilles Convert Xtend+ Retsu with Union Sword attachments. Surge showcases Infinite Achilles Dimension’ 1B, utilizing Infinite Sword and Infinite Shield for combat adjustments. QuadStrike deploys Zeal Achilles Giga-Q Massive-Q+Quattro II-10. His battle techniques include signature moves like Z Breaker (a downward strike using the Beyblade’s height), Z Defense (deflecting incoming attacks), Turbo Whip (a powerful slashing assault), and Turbo Crush (shield-to-smash combos). Advanced maneuvers include the Lightning Launch, a state of complete synchronization granting a temporary increase in speed and power, and the Hyper-Flux, where the Beyblade turns gold and illuminates for a similar boost.
Aiger becomes World Champion by defeating Valt in Turbo, defends his title in Rise’s Battle Island Tournament, and competes in Surge’s Legend Festival and Ultimate Tag Series as S-Tier #3. Between Surge and QuadStrike, Valt reclaims the World Champion title. Aiger returns for QuadStrike’s Champion’s Challenge and Lodestar Battle Tournament, arriving at a location called Phantom’s Gate seeking a battle with Valt. His bond with Achilles remains pivotal, reflecting his evolution from a reckless pursuer of power to a more balanced and resilient Blader.
