Description
Miyoko Narushima is a second year high school student and a member of the wind instrument club at Shimizu South High School, where she plays the oboe. She has silver hair usually tied into a braid with two strands framing her face, purple eyes, and orange round-shaped glasses. Miyoko had stopped playing the oboe for an extended period following the death of her younger brother from cancer. Her brother had left behind a Rubik's Cube that he had enjoyed solving, and Miyoko was unable to complete it, clinging to the unsolved puzzle as a reminder of her loss. She became withdrawn and avoided the club.

Her personality is initially marked by grief and reticence, but she retains an underlying fondness for music and a personal connection to puzzles, reflecting her late brother's influence. Her primary motivation is to move forward from her brother's death and to reclaim the part of her life that had been put on hold. Haruta Kamijo, one of the main protagonists, approaches her with the intention of recruiting her back to the club. He solves the seemingly impossible Rubik's Cube for her, telling her that she must put the past behind her and keep living. This pivotal moment breaks through her grief. Miyoko subsequently rejoins the wind instrument club, becoming a supporting member of the ensemble. Her relationship with Haruta is particularly significant, as his act not only solves the puzzle but also offers her emotional closure and a renewed purpose. She also interacts with Chika Homura, who is actively recruiting members for the club.

Throughout the story, Miyoko undergoes clear development, moving from a state of sorrow and isolation back to active participation in the music club, reclaiming her role as an oboist and reconnecting with her peers. Her notable abilities include her skill on the oboe, which she rediscovers, and her engagement with the puzzle-related mystery that forms the basis of her introduction. She is not a central mystery solver herself, but her personal story contributes to the club's growth and the thematic focus on overcoming loss.
