Larry Butz is a childhood friend of both Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth. He first appears as Phoenix Wright's very first client, having been falsely accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend. This case is one of the reasons Phoenix decides to become a defense attorney. Over the course of the series, Larry appears in various roles, working as a hot dog vendor, a security guard, a painter, a security guard, and even as a Santa Claus impersonator. He also adopts the pen name Laurice Deauxnim when working as an artist.
