Description
Jean Alkiniks is a major in the military of the Kioka Republic and serves as a primary rival to the protagonist, Ikta Solork, during the northern campaign in Alderamin on the Sky.

Known as the "shining commander who never sleeps," Jean Alkiniks is a young man whose tireless and disciplined nature stands in direct contrast to Ikta's slothful and unmotivated demeanor. He possesses a brilliant strategic mind, making him one of the few tacticians capable of challenging Ikta on an intellectual level. However, despite his genius, he is characterized by a strong obsession with control over the battlefield. This desire for order and predictability reveals a key flaw: a lack of experience in handling chaos. When a battle does not go according to his precise plans, he can be knocked off balance and become perplexed.

In his role within the story, Jean is the commander of the Kiokan forces that invade the Katjvarna Empire under the guise of supporting the theocracy of Aldera. He is the direct adversary who forces Ikta to fight at his full capacity, creating a high-stakes conflict of wits. Their most notable confrontation occurs when Ikta’s vastly outnumbered Imperial unit must cover the empire's retreat. Jean anticipates his opponent's strategies but ultimately falls victim to a multi-layered trap. He correctly identifies an obvious fire decoy but fails to foresee a secondary trap involving soldiers hiding in straw to blind and slaughter his cavalry. In the ensuing negotiation, he wrongly assumes an Igsem soldier is in command and later that his own safety is secure, allowing Ikta to bluff him into a retreat by threatening him with a sniper that does not actually exist.

Regarding key relationships, his dynamic with Ikta Solork is the most significant. The two are presented as natural rivals, with each excited by the prospect of facing a foe of equal caliber. After being defeated, Jean demands to know what Ikta fights for, expressing outrage when Ikta states he protects the empire's people rather than the country itself. Jean’s blind loyalty to the concept of his nation clashes sharply with Ikta's pragmatic humanism.

In terms of development, Jean’s confrontation with Ikta serves as a crucial learning experience. His defeat highlights that raw tactical brilliance is insufficient without the ability to adapt to the unpredictable human elements of warfare. He is left visibly shaken and salty by his loss, fully aware that he was bested.

Jean Alkiniks notable abilities lie entirely in his strategic acumen and his tireless work ethic. He is a gifted commander who can orchestrate complex assaults and anticipate conventional military tactics. His stamina and dedication, as suggested by his epithet, make him a formidable and relentless opponent. However, his most defining trait is not a superhuman power but his fatal flaw: an inability to maintain his composure and strategic clarity when the battle descends into chaos.
