Description
Mikuru Shindou is Chrono Shindou's aunt and guardian, with Chrono residing in her apartment. She is the younger sister of Rive Shindou, Chrono's father. Mikuru possesses orange hair falling around her neck over her shoulders and blue eyes. She typically wears a white long-sleeved shirt, blue jacket, red skirt, and knee-high boots. During her school years, she wore a standard white uniform, and as a working adult, she wears a blue business suit.

Mikuru first appears crawling on the floor under a blanket, asking Chrono for water. When Chrono mentions entering a Vanguard National Tournament, her expression changes significantly. She reveals to Chrono that his father was a Vanguard fighter who vanished ten years earlier due to events tied to the game. Later, she meets Shinemon Nitta to discuss Chrono and Rive, noting their similarities. Shinemon advises her to let Chrono pursue his interests. The next morning, she confronts Chrono as he tries to leave without saying goodbye, warning him to communicate his concerns or face restrictions on playing Vanguard, followed by an affectionate forehead flick.

After Rive's disappearance, Chrono entered an orphanage. Mikuru visited him daily during this period. While attending college, she founded her own company specifically to gain the means to take Chrono in, a demanding endeavor resulting in chronic sleep deprivation. Chrono initially distanced himself, feeling like a burden, but Mikuru acted from her desire to remain with him as his only family.

In a later storyline, Mikuru communicates with Rive via phone, questioning his choice not to return home. She urges him to confront Chrono directly and asks if Chrono has mentioned him.

In the "Shinemon" arc of the V Series, set ten years prior, Mikuru is depicted as Shinemon Nitta's schoolmate. Her relationship with Shinemon undergoes an adaptation overhaul. Earlier series featured subtle romantic tension initiated by Shinemon, while the V Series portrays Mikuru with a noticeable crush on him, contrasting Shinemon's dismissal of romantic involvement due to their age difference.
