Description
Atsushi Miyuki is a first-year student at Keijou High School and a key member of its rugby club, where he plays as a stand-off, a position also known as a fly-half. He attended Azuma middle school alongside Iwashimizu Sumiaki and Hachiouji Mutsumi, and it was during this time that he served as the captain of their rugby team. Miyuki has been playing rugby for most of his life, a passion shared and encouraged by his father, who is a devoted fan of the sport.

In terms of appearance, Miyuki is a young man of relatively short stature, standing 171 centimeters tall, though he possesses a well-built and sturdy frame that suits his athletic role. He has short black hair and black eyes, and is frequently seen with a band-aid on his face, suggesting a tendency for minor injuries from his active lifestyle. Off the field, he exhibits a cheerful and friendly personality. He is naturally drawn to high-spirited individuals and tends to address them on a first-name basis. Miyuki does not hold grudges and places immense value on his friendships, showing a protective side when he believes those close to him are being mistreated.

Despite his amiable nature away from the pitch, Miyuki transforms into a fierce and highly competitive player once a match begins. He takes every opponent seriously and harbors a deep-seated hatred for losing, finding genuine joy in competing against equally enthusiastic players. This competitive drive is paired with exceptional rugby intelligence. He possesses remarkable agility and his spin moves are considered among the best for a high school player in his position. Furthermore, his game sense and field vision are highly developed; he can survey the entire pitch with precision and has an above-average memory, a critical skill for a player expected to act as a field general and director of the team's offense.

A pivotal event in Miyuki's past defines a significant part of his character and his central relationship with Iwashimizu Sumiaki. During his third year of middle school, while trying to prevent Iwashimizu from scoring a try in a practice game, Miyuki dislocated his shoulder. This injury led to his team losing their subsequent important match, which in turn cost them a chance to qualify for the national tournament. This incident created a deep, lingering sense of guilt in Iwashimizu, who blamed himself and subsequently quit rugby. However, Miyuki himself does not harbor any resentment. Instead, the two share a bond that is both protective and mutually competitive, with each player capable of bringing out the best in the other.

His relationship with Gion Kenji begins on a confrontational note, as Miyuki initially mistook Gion for a bully harassing Iwashimizu. Following a practice match, however, Miyuki’s perspective changed completely as he became intensely interested in Gion’s raw spirit and passion for the sport. This interest eventually develops into a friendship, with the two exchanging emails. Miyuki often takes the initiative to contact Gion whenever there is a rugby game worth watching on television. Through his leadership, technical skill, and the personal history that drives him, Atsushi Miyuki stands out as a competitive yet caring player whose strategic mind is as vital to his team as his physical abilities.
