Description
Dojaku, also known by the nickname Gimmick, is an anime-only character who appears as an antagonist in the One Piece special Adventure of Nebulandia. He is introduced as a seemingly loyal member of the Foxy Pirates, having joined the crew at some point after the Long Ring Long Land Arc alongside his associate Komei. However, this affiliation is a cover, as Dojaku is in fact an undercover Marine officer working directly under Vice Admiral Komei as part of a larger operation to capture the Straw Hat Pirates.
Dojaku is a large, tan-skinned man with a distinctive and somewhat brutish appearance. He has small eyes, a pointed nose, prominent cheekbones, pointed ears, and a large mouth. His most notable physical features include a long brown beard and long brown hair that is typically pulled back into a ponytail. He possesses a large abdomen contrasted by short legs and long, muscular arms. Dojaku wears a burgundy shirt with a two-tone blue diamond pattern along the edge, black pants, tan gloves, and brown shoes. He also wears a brown belt and has a visible tattoo on his left shoulder. As a Marine, he wears the standard-issue Marine coat over his shoulders.
Dojaku is characterized by his diligence and his absolute loyalty to his superior, Komei. He follows Komeis orders without question, playing a crucial role in the elaborate scheme to trap Luffy and his crew. His personality is deeply deceitful, as he successfully maintains his cover as a member of the Foxy Pirates, treating the crew with apparent friendliness while intending to betray them for the Marines. Despite this treachery, he takes tremendous pride in his work as a shipwright. He refers to his inventions and mechanical modifications as his gimmicks and is visibly shocked and disappointed when his greatest creation is destroyed before he can fully unveil it. While he is an enemy of the Straw Hat Pirates, Dojaku shows a genuine, professional admiration for the shipwright skills of Franky. Within the story of the Nebulandia special, Dojaku serves as Komeis primary operative and the technical mastermind behind their plan. He is responsible for modifying the Foxy Pirates ship, the Sexy Foxy, transforming it into a powerful warship equipped with features like reflective plating to counter Foxys Noro Noro Beam and a chain mechanism for capturing targets. His primary role during the Davy Back Fight on Mushroom Island is to participate in the Eating Contest. He deliberately refrains from eating the Drowsy Mushrooms, waiting for the other competitors to collapse from their effect. Following Komeis revelation of his true identity, Dojaku pulls a rope that triggers a cage to surround the stage, trapping the incapacitated pirates. He then helps secure the cage as it is dragged toward the Sexy Foxy. Dojaku also physically confronts Monkey D. Luffy, knocking him back with ease when he attempts to rescue the captured Zoro and Sanji. Later on Nebulandia, Dojaku is given the task of activating his greatest gimmick, a large, rising building-like contraption intended to transport the prisoners to Marine Headquarters. However, before the machine can be fully deployed, the giant sea serpent Kinoconda crashes into it, completely destroying the device and leaving Dojaku in a state of shock.
