His decisions profoundly influenced Earth's interstellar conflicts and policies.
In 2191, as military director, Serizawa ordered an unprovoked attack on an alien fleet near Pluto, overriding Admiral Juzo Okita's objections. This first contact incident, falsely reported as alien aggression, ignited the devastating Garmillas War. Survivors received a gag order to suppress the truth. During the war's desperate phase, Serizawa spearheaded Project Izumo, a plan to evacuate humanity to a new planet. After Program Yamato superseded Izumo, he secretly continued Izumo preparations, fabricating records and embedding loyal personnel aboard Yamato to execute his plan.
