Description
Nanachi, a Narehate altered by the 6th Layer’s Curse yet retaining sentience, began life as a human child from Sereny. Orphaned early and abducted by the White Whistle Bondrewd, they became a test subject in his efforts to defy the Abyss’s horrors. Amidst these trials, Nanachi forged a profound bond with Mitty, another captive child. Thrust into a dual-chamber experiment on the 6th Layer, the pair endured the curse’s full force—Nanachi absorbed Mitty’s torment, emerging with a rabbit-like form while Mitty transformed into an immortal, suffering entity.
Following the ordeal, Nanachi reluctantly aided Bondrewd’s Cartridge production at Ido Front before fleeing with Mitty to the 4th Layer. There, they established a hidden refuge, monitoring Delvers and experimenting on the fatally wounded in hopes of ending Mitty’s agony. Their solitude fractured upon encountering Riko and Reg. Initially detached, Nanachi intervened after witnessing Reg’s despair over Riko’s injury—an echo of their bond with Mitty. This led to Riko’s recovery and Reg’s use of the Incinerator to free Mitty’s soul, a turning point that drew Nanachi into the group’s descent.
Nanachi’s expertise proved crucial during clashes with Bondrewd at Ido Front, where they negotiated safe passage by leveraging Reg’s power and Riko’s resolve. Later, within the 6th Layer’s Village of Hollows, the village’s distortions resurrected Mitty’s presence. Consumed by guilt, Nanachi bartered their own value to reclaim her, a sacrifice that complicated the group’s mission yet revealed unresolved remorse.
Physically, Nanachi sports cream-white fur, tan accents, horizontal pupils, and a sturdy tail. Their attire—baggy pants and a horned helmet modified after residing in Belaf’s House—hints at both practicality and past ties. Though reserved and sardonic, Nanachi harbors deep empathy for the suffering, often masking vulnerability with aloofness.
Evolving from a solitary survivor to a pivotal ally, Nanachi balances scientific precision with emotional fragility. Their journey mirrors the Abyss’s duality—a relentless struggle to reconcile trauma with the resolve to protect others, embodying the ceaseless interplay of sacrifice and endurance.
