Description
Vueko, also known as Vuelo Eluko, suffered severe childhood trauma under her abusive guardian Juroimoh, who physically and verbally assaulted her while obsessing over the mythical Golden City. Inheriting a Star Compass from a dying sailor, its pointer toward the Abyss led her to join the Ganja suicide corps expedition as an adult. Despite her meek personality and profound self-doubt, her knowledge and compassion earned her status as one of the group's Three Sages.
During Ganja's descent into the Abyss, Vueko discovered Irumyuui, a young girl abandoned by her tribe. Bonding over shared abandonment, Vueko advocated for Irumyuui to become their guide and embraced a motherly role. Their relationship deepened as they faced the Abyss's horrors, including Pseudowater outbreaks that petrified victims.
Vueko's pivotal choice involved using the wish-granting Cradle of Desire artifact on Irumyuui to cure her illness. This backfired catastrophically: Irumyuui transformed into a monstrous entity, endlessly birthing nonviable offspring. Unbeknownst to Vueko, Ganja's leader Wazukyan slaughtered these children to create a stew curing the Pseudowater infection. Force-fed the stew and later discovering its origin, Vueko plunged into profound guilt and despair.
As Irumyuui's transformations escalated, Wazukyan exploited her body to forge the Village of Iruburu, a sanctuary for Ganja members who offered themselves to become narehate. Vueko alone opposed this, attempting suicide to protest the perversion of Irumyuui's wishes. Wazukyan saved her but imprisoned her for 150 years in a dark pit beneath the village, chained near Irumyuui's lingering consciousness. During imprisonment, Vueko sensed the birth of Faputa, Irumyuui's final child destined for vengeance, and named thousands of Irumyuui's unborn children while clinging to memories of Irumyuui's humanity.
Freed from the pit by Riko, Vueko disguised herself in Iruburu. Revealing her identity later caused village unrest. During Faputa's assault, Vueko's lover Pakkoyan injured her to spare her from the Curse of the Abyss. In her final moments, Vueko reunited with Faputa, who expressed confusion over Vueko's significance to Irumyuui. Vueko died content, having ensured Irumyuui was remembered, and Faputa mourned her despite their brief connection.
Throughout her life, Vueko maintained a gentle, empathetic nature despite enduring betrayal, loss, and isolation. Her core motivation centered on protecting Irumyuui and preserving her memory, a wish affirmed before her death.
