Description
Mars is one of the four main characters in the anime Sekkō Boys. He is a Greco-Roman gypsum bust, originally sculpted as the Roman god of war, who has been brought to life as a member of a fledgling idol group managed by the rookie talent manager Miki Ishimoto. His physical form is that of a stone bust, lacking movable limbs or facial expressions, which creates a playful contrast between his static appearance and his role as a performing idol. In personality, Mars is described as being earnest about love, a trait that sets him apart from the warrior god archetype he represents. He is sincere, sometimes to the point of being naive or overly romantic, and this earnestness drives his motivations within the group: he genuinely wants to connect with fans and succeed as an idol, approaching each performance and promotional activity with heartfelt dedication rather than cynicism. As a member of the idol unit alongside Saint Giorgio, Medici, and Hermes, Mars contributes a gentle, love-focused energy that balances the more flamboyant or stoic personalities of his bandmates. His relationships with the other statues are marked by camaraderie and mutual support, though their differing temperaments occasionally lead to comedic friction. Over the course of the series, Mars shows little dramatic personal development, as the anime’s comedy relies largely on the static nature of the statues themselves; instead, his growth is reflected in his increasing comfort with idol life and his ability to express his earnest nature through music. His notable abilities are those of a typical idol—singing and dancing—though his limited mobility adds a surreal, humorous layer to his performances. No extraordinary powers or martial skills are depicted, consistent with the show’s premise that the statues are ordinary busts trying to navigate the entertainment industry.
