Description
Kuraudo Kurashiki is a third-year student and the undisputed ace of Tonrou Academy, widely known by the moniker Sword Eater. He has a sturdy, well-built physique, light brown eyes, and a distinctively sharp-toothed grin. He is rarely seen without a pair of yellow sunglasses, and his overall look is that of a rough-edged delinquent, complete with visible tattoos and street-style accessories. Before his formal introduction in the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival, he moved like a gang leader, roaming from dojo to dojo and crushing them for the sheer thrill of combat. That brawling past shaped him into a wild, fearless fighter who lives to test his strength against the most dangerous opponents.

His principal motivation is the pure pursuit of battle. He does not fight for fame, honor, or ideology but for the raw excitement of a worthy clash. That hunger drives him to enter the annual Seven Stars Sword Art Festival, where he previously fought all the way into the top eight, cementing his reputation as one of the most formidable apprentice knights of his generation.

In combat, Kuraudo wields an unusual whip-like sword that grants him unpredictable range and striking angles, making him a nightmare for opponents who rely on standard blade work. His signature ability is the Marginal Counter, a Noble Art that pushes his reflexes far beyond normal human limits, letting him read and intercept split-second movements that would overwhelm an ordinary fighter. It is this technique that earned him the title Sword Eater, as he seems to devour incoming attacks and return them before the enemy can finish.

His role in the story centers on a pivotal confrontation with Ikki Kurogane. At first he appears as a seemingly insurmountable wall, an arrogant powerhouse who dismisses those he considers weaker. After being defeated by Ikki, however, Kuraudo humbles himself in a rare way. He seeks out Kaito Ayatsuji, the aging Last Samurai and one of the finest pure swordsmen alive despite being a non-Blazer. Under Kaito’s guidance he retrains himself from the ground up, moving away from thuggish brawling and toward true mastery. This apprenticeship reflects his most significant development: learning that raw talent and aggression have limits, and that even a self-proclaimed sword-eater can be hungry for real discipline.

His key relationships revolve around that loss and mentorship. The defeat at Ikki’s hands becomes the catalyst that reorients his entire path. Although he never forms a deep personal bond with Ikki, the respect forged through battle lingers. His connection with Kaito Ayatsuji is more formative, linking him to the legacy of Ayase Ayatsuji’s father and giving him a tangible link to a tradition of warrior refinement. By the end of the narrative arc that features him, Kuraudo stands as a testament to how a prideful street fighter can evolve into a more complete swordsman, retaining his ferocity but now sharpened with purpose.
