Description
Charon is an Autonomous Trion Soldier who appears in the Fugitive Arc of the World Trigger anime, serving as a companion to the character Giev. This arc is original to the anime and not adapted from the source manga. Charon has a distinctive appearance, characterized by a white-colored body with a thin red line running vertically down its center. Its face features three blue eyes with red outlines arranged in a triangular formation, with the top eye positioned directly over the central red line. Complementing its eyes are three horn-like appendages that form an inverted triangle on the opposite side of its head.

In terms of personality, Charon exhibits a somewhat cheeky and sarcastic demeanor. This is most notably displayed through its voice and dialogue, particularly in its interactions with Giev. Even after Giev undergoes a transformation into a Trion Soldier and it is revealed that he was being used as a decoy, Charon continues to address him using the Japanese honorific sama, which denotes great respect. The use of this formal title in such a context is clearly intended to be sarcastic and mocking, highlighting Charon's duplicitous and cunning nature.

Charon possesses a range of notable abilities that make it a formidable opponent. One of its primary powers is the ability to erase memories. It demonstrates this by partially wiping the memories of its own ally, Giev, showcasing a manipulative streak. In combat, Charon can fire a powerful laser that is compared to the Asteroid trigger but is significantly stronger, with enough force to penetrate concrete structures. It also has sensory capabilities, demonstrated by its ability to track trion signatures, which allows it to locate other characters such as Xeno and Lilith. Furthermore, Charon can access and pull up maps to aid in its search for targets, though the source of these maps is unknown.

Charon plays a significant antagonistic role within its arc. It arrives on Earth alongside Giev, who is a tracker from the planet nation Elgatess. However, Charon is not a loyal subordinate. It is revealed that Charon is using Giev as a decoy for its own purposes. At one point, Charon takes the entire population of Shizuka City hostage, forcing the A-Rank agents of Border, including Tachikawa and Kazama, to mobilize for a large-scale battle. Its treachery is fully exposed when it reveals to Giev that his memories are false, using the ensuing confusion and Giev's transformation to further its own agenda. Charon's key relationship is with Giev, which is built on manipulation and deception rather than genuine partnership. The character has no significant development as it is a self-contained antagonist for a filler arc, but its actions are the primary catalyst for the events of that storyline. The name Charon is derived from Greek mythology, where Charon is the ferryman who carries souls across the rivers Styx and Acheron into the underworld, a fitting reference for a character who deals in memory erasure and betrayal.
