Description
Baal is one of the seven Djinn who serve Sinbad, the king of Sindria. He is a powerful entity who originally resided in the first dungeon, which also bore his name, and was captured by Sinbad during his youth. Baal is identified as the Djinn of Wrath and Heroes and commands the power of lightning, which is considered the fourth type of magic.
In terms of background, Baal did not originate in the world as a simple dungeon guardian. He once lived in a place called Alma Torran, where he was a member of the household of a figure named Solomon. He, along with all other Djinn, was created from the fundamental particles of life called Rukh by King Solomon himself. This origin places him among a group of ancient and powerful beings with a deep connection to the world's magical foundations.
Baal possesses a distinctive and imposing appearance. He resembles a dragon, complete with bat-like wings, scaly skin, and prominent horns. His face is often described as inorganic-looking, and he has dark, shaggy hair with a third eye set into his forehead. He typically wears two necklaces and a belt. This fearsome exterior, however, belies his true nature. Despite his constant appearance of anger and his title as the Djinn of Wrath, Baal is actually tender-hearted and a very strait-laced, or strict and principled, individual.
The most significant moment in Baal's role within the story occurs during the conquest of his dungeon. When Sinbad and his rival Drakon both touched the dungeon's lamp, Baal appeared surrounded by lightning. He declared his titles and asked which of them would become a king. When both claimed the right, Baal allowed them to settle the matter through combat, stating he looked forward to seeing what his future lord could demonstrate. After Sinbad emerged victorious, Baal acknowledged him, approved him as his master, and bestowed upon him the power he sought. He then entered Sinbad's sword, which became his metal vessel, the physical object that allows his power to be channeled in the human world.
As a Djinn, Baal is deeply integrated into Sinbad's power structure and relationships. Sinbad is his dungeon capturer, the one who conquered his trial and earned his allegiance. Baal's metal vessel is specifically Sinbad's sword, meaning the king channels his lightning abilities through this weapon. Furthermore, Baal has his own household, a group of individuals who share his power as a blessing and are thus able to wield a portion of his strength. The known members of Baal's household are Jafar, Masrur, and Drakon, all of whom are key figures in Sinbad's inner circle. This creates a layered hierarchy where loyalty and power flow from the Djinn to the king and then to the king's closest retainers.
Baal's abilities are formidable and almost entirely focused on the generation and manipulation of lightning. Through Sinbad, these abilities manifest in several distinct ways. There is the Djinn Equip, a form Sinbad can take by fully channeling Baal's power. In this state, Sinbad takes on draconic features similar to Baal himself, gaining horns, scale-like blue armor across parts of his body, a jewel on his forehead, and a tail. In this form, he can freely attack with lightning magic. More specific techniques include Bararaq Saiqa, also known as the Lightning Sword, which draws lightning down from the sky into the sword, storing it before releasing an enormous, sky-filling blast. An even more powerful version of this attack is Bararaq Inqerad-Saiqa, or the Lightning Sword of Extinction, which represents the use of extreme magic. These abilities showcase Baal's domain over one of the most destructive and awe-inspiring forces in the world.
