Description
Dr. Gel is a high-ranking scientist and officer within the Gogol Empire, a powerful and expansive galactic authority. His primary mission, assigned by his superior, Admiral Perry, is to capture the alien hunter Dandy. The empire seeks Dandy because he possesses a rare and incredibly powerful form of energy known as pyonium, which is believed to be the key to controlling the universe. Dr. Gel is relentless in his pursuit, dedicating most of his time and resources to tracking Dandy across the galaxy with the help of his loyal assistant, Bea.

As a member of the Gogol military, Dr. Gel initially appears to be a serious, determined, and commanding presence, perfectly suited to his role as a primary antagonist. He carries a golden staff that signifies his high rank and speaks with a tone of authority when ordering his vast fleet of soldiers. However, his ferocious exterior often gives way to a more bumbling and comedic reality. Despite his best-laid plans and the considerable might of the Gogol Empire behind him, Dr. Gel’s every attempt to capture Dandy ends in spectacular and humiliating failure, often with his spaceship being destroyed or him meeting an untimely end through accident or enemy action. This running gag is a core part of his character; he is a persistent yet constantly foiled villain whose suffering provides much of the show’s humor. He treats death as little more than an everyday annoyance, universally resetting by the next episode to continue his mission.

Professionally, Dr. Gel is noted by Admiral Perry to be a brilliant scientist, not just a mindless brute. This is shown in his more composed moments, where his scientific curiosity can override his military objectives. In one instance, when confronted with an invading two-dimensional universe, he willingly allows himself to be pulled into it, expressing pure joy at the opportunity to experience and study an entirely new dimensional plane. This reveals a man who is genuinely fascinated by the unknown, adding depth to his otherwise single-minded goal. His appearance, which is that of a large, muscular gorilla with a prominent beard, a distinctive G-shaped eyepatch, and a curled periwig, further emphasizes his intimidating yet slightly absurd nature. He dresses in a red, white, and blue color scheme and pilots a unique spaceship shaped like the Statue of Liberty with a ball gag in its mouth, a design that may be a reference to Planet of the Apes. His belt buckle also resembles those from the Kamen Rider series.

His primary relationship is with his partner, Bea, who serves as a subordinate, sounding board, and occasional source of comic relief alongside him. While Dr. Gel is the leader, the two are frequently seen bickering or suffering the consequences of their failures together. He is fiercely loyal to Admiral Perry and the Gogol Empire, carrying out his orders with a sense of duty that borders on the fanatical, even though Perry himself is often willing to sacrifice Dr. Gel in pursuit of the greater goal of capturing Dandy. As a recurring antagonist, Dr. Gel’s role in the story is to be a persistent threat and a foil to Dandy’s carefree lifestyle. He represents the ordered, authoritarian empire in contrast to Dandy’s chaotic freedom. As the second season progresses toward its finale, Dr. Gel finally succeeds in ambushing and capturing Dandy, which triggers a massive conflict between the Gogol and Jaicro empires and sets the stage for the series' conclusion. While his personal development is limited by the show’s episodic reset nature, the finale sees him betrayed by Bea, only to survive and intervene at a crucial moment, showcasing his resilience and importance to the narrative. His primary abilities include his genius-level intellect in scientific fields, his authority to command the forces of the Gogol Empire, and a seemingly inexhaustible capacity to survive and return from fatal situations to resume his hunt for Dandy.
