Bernd Kuschmann is a German actor and voice artist, born in Hamburg in 1941. His career is deeply rooted in German theater, having been a longstanding ensemble member at several prominent venues, including the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, and the Wuppertaler Bühnen, where he was a permanent member from 1983 to 2006. In addition to his stage work as a character actor, he has built a substantial body of work as a narrator for audiobooks and radio plays. Within the realm of animation and anime, Kuschmann is recognized for lending his voice to a range of characters in German-dubbed versions of popular series. Among his most notable roles is Ryuk, the shinigami from the series Death Note. His other anime credits include the priest Cornello in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Lorenz Kiel in the film Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth. He also voiced the character Gorou Shikabane, also known as General Pepel, in the series World Conquest Zvezda Plot.
