Description
Jess Beckham is a tall, fair-skinned young woman with long blonde hair, often styled into two braids, and blue eyes. She is a member of the Second Platoon of DOGOO, a supranational organization that fights against monsters known as Evolutionary Invasion Objects. Her combat designation comes from her status as an E-Gene Holder, a warrior who can channel the abilities of a historical figure. In her case, the genetic legacy she inherits and wields is that of the renowned English physicist Sir Isaac Newton.

Outside of battle, Jess presents herself as a friendly, educated, and perpetually upbeat individual who is deeply concerned with her appearance, particularly her hair, makeup, and nails. She enjoys seeing others happy and is always ready to assist her comrades. However, her friendliness manifests in an extremely unconventional way: she has an unshakable habit of greeting nearly everyone, whether acquaintance or close friend, with an enthusiastic and messy French kiss, leaving behind traces of her signature pink lipstick. This behavior is portrayed as a peculiarity born from the influence of the historical Newton she is connected to, and she seems to take a particular, almost experimental curiosity in seeing how far she can push her overly familiar greetings. This trait is most prominently directed at the protagonist, Shio Ogura, with whom she shares multiple such encounters.

When the situation escalates into combat, Jess's demeanor undergoes a stark transformation. Her gentle and effusive personality gives way to a more arrogant, aggressive, and combative nature. In the heat of battle, she becomes an ace fighter who visibly enjoys the thrill of confrontation, often smiling and shouting as she unleashes her power. This shift reveals a "Lady of War" persona that contrasts sharply with her peaceful, kiss-prone everyday self.

Jess's primary motivation in the story is to serve as an effective combatant for DOGOO, leveraging her unique abilities to protect her team and defeat enemy threats. Her role within the Second Platoon is that of a powerful frontline fighter whose powers of gravity manipulation provide both offensive and tactical support. Her most significant relationships are with her fellow platoon members. She develops a strong rapport with the newcomer and protagonist, Shio Ogura, whom she quickly befriends and frequently subjects to her intense greetings. She also seems to share a close, mischievous bond with her teammate Cyx, as they are shown teaming up to involve Shio in group bathing activities. She maintains a good, if less prominently featured, friendship with another teammate, Mahesh Mirza.

As an E-Gene Holder of Isaac Newton, Beckham's notable ability allows her to manipulate gravity. By channeling her power through an AU ball, she can summon a massive, boot-like weapon on her right foot. The primary function of this "gravity boot" is to drastically increase the gravitational force acting on anything she stomps on, allowing her to crush enemies or break through solid structures. This power has defined limitations; she can only target a single enemy or object at a time, focusing the increased gravity on one specific point. In addition to its offensive applications, she can vary the intensity of the gravitational pull, utilizing forces such as 3gs or the more standard 5gs output. Her power also proves vital for team strategy, as she has used it to increase the gravity on her ally Shio, which helps mitigate the immense recoil generated by Shio's own gatling gun weapon.
