Description
Leiji Myoga, whose name is more commonly rendered as Reiji Myoga, is a third-year student at Amane Academy, a prestigious music school, where he serves as the president of the chamber music club and holds considerable influence over the school’s decision-making. He is an exceptionally talented violinist with a performance level recognized as international in standard, capable of intimidating opponents into forfeiting during competitions through the sheer power of his playing. Orphaned at a young age after losing his parents in a car accident, he and his younger sister Shiori were taken in by the school’s chairman, an experience that shaped his fiercely independent and guarded nature. Myoga is characterized by a cold, arrogant demeanor, often speaking bluntly and maintaining an aloof distance from others, yet beneath this exterior lies a deep and unwavering devotion to music, which he views as the very essence of his existence. He considers the protagonist, Kanade, his greatest rival, a fixation rooted in a childhood encounter where she once comforted him after a competition, leaving him with a conflicted mix of resentment and hidden respect. Throughout the story, he oscillates between openly opposing her and quietly offering aid, such as protecting her during a crisis and admitting that she has become as essential to him as his own heart. His key relationships include his sister Shiori, for whom he feels a protective responsibility, and the school’s authority figures who raised him. Myoga experiences significant development as he learns to reconcile his competitive pride with genuine connection, ultimately acknowledging Kanade’s importance beyond mere rivalry. Notable abilities include his masterful violin technique, his strategic mind as club president, and his signature declaration that he and others like him can only truly live while on the stage.
