Description
Hinahoho is a character from the anime and manga series Magi. He serves as one of the Eight Generals of the Sindria Kingdom, a group of powerful and trusted warriors who serve under the legendary King Sinbad. His origins lie in the far north, as he is a member of the Imuchakk tribe, a race of people known for their giant physiques and adaptation to frigid climates. He is the son of one of the tribe's patriarchs.

In terms of background, Hinahoho came from the Unexplored Region of the Extreme North and became a resident of Sindria under special circumstances after meeting Sinbad. Before earning his adult name, he was known simply as Hina. His past reveals that he was once very timid, lacked courage, and was often a crybaby, which caused his younger sister, Pipirika, to treat him like a child. This all changed when he met Sinbad, who helped him overcome his fears. Hinahoho is a widower and has five children whom he raises as a single father.

The personality of Hinahoho is defined by his gentle and kindhearted nature. He is a devoted father who cares for his children above all else, a trait that defines many of his actions and motivations. His love for family is so pronounced that he often tries to encourage Sinbad to settle down and start a family of his own. He is a man who values family bonds deeply and dislikes those who do not. Despite his intimidating size, he is approachable and warm, though he is known to worry about his daughter as she goes through her rebellious teenage years. One of his notable weaknesses is his poor tolerance for heat, a direct result of being born and raised in the icy north.

Within the story of Magi: The Kingdom of Magic, Hinahoho fills the role of a supporting character and a reliable ally. As one of the Eight Generals, he is responsible for the defense and governance of the Sindria Kingdom. His role often involves participating in key meetings with Sinbad and the other generals, as well as standing ready to protect the kingdom from threats. He is present during significant events in Sindria, such as the arrival of Alibaba, Aladdin, and Morgiana, and observes important political duels, such as the one between Sinbad and Kougyoku Ren. He is a symbol of Sindria's strength and diversity, representing the alliance King Sinbad has built with various peoples.

Key relationships are central to his character. His most significant bond is with King Sinbad, whom he follows loyally. Hinahoho was instrumental in Sinbad's early adventures, specifically during the latter's first encounter with the Rampaging Unicorn, a beast Hinahoho needed to defeat for his coming-of-age ceremony. He also has a close, albeit sometimes strained, relationship with his younger sister, Pipirika, who is equally formidable. He maintains strong camaraderie with his fellow Generals, such as Drakon, Jafar, and Sharrkan. The most important relationships in his life are with his children and his late wife, Rurumu. Rurumu, who was considered the top beauty of the Imuchakk tribe, died during the fall of the first Sindria Kingdom, an event that left a deep emotional scar on Hinahoho and gave him a prominent facial scar.

Hinahoho undergoes notable development, particularly in the prequel series Magi: Adventure of Sinbad. He transitions from a timid and fearful young man who lacked the courage to complete his tribe's coming-of-age ceremony into a confident and capable warrior. His journey alongside Sinbad instills in him the bravery and wisdom needed to earn his adult name, Hinahoho, and to become a founding member of Sindria. In the main series, his development is more subtle, focusing on his role as a grieving widower and a dedicated single father finding purpose in raising his children and serving his king.

Hinahoho possesses several notable abilities tied to his physiology and training. As a member of the Imuchakk tribe, he is a superb swimmer, blessed with whale-like skin that reduces friction in water, allowing him to move with incredible speed and efficiency. His muscles contain eighty percent more protein than those of an average human, enabling him to store more oxygen and hold his breath for over an hour. He is naturally resistant to cold environments. For combat, he wields a large horn from a Rampaging Unicorn as his primary weapon, a traditional armament for a warrior of his tribe. He is also proficient with a harpoon and a bow. As one of the Eight Generals, Hinahoho possesses a Household Vessel, a metal weapon that allows him to use the powers of Sinbad's Djinn, Valefor. His vessel, named Galfor Roromus, is channeled through his unicorn horn to manifest a massive, icy wolf head to attack his enemies.
