Description
Raichi Hoshimiya is a recurring supporting character in the Aikatsu! anime franchise. He is the son of Taichi Hoshimiya and Ringo Hoshimiya and the younger brother of Ichigo Hoshimiya. He is an elementary-school-aged boy with short brown hair and orange eyes, often seen in a teal and yellow outfit with a shirt bearing the letter L. His name is a play on the lychee fruit, continuing the fruit-themed naming pattern used across his family.
Raichi lives with his family, who operate a bento shop that he helps his mother run. Before his sister ever considered becoming an idol, he was already a devoted fan of the top idol Mizuki Kanzaki. He kept a personal collection of magazines and photographs featuring Mizuki, and when his sister accidentally found and damaged this collection, her curiosity about Mizuki was sparked. This incident served as the catalyst that led Ichigo to take an interest in idols and eventually pursue idol activities herself, making Raichi an important early influence on the story even though he is not an idol himself.
In personality, Raichi is an enthusiastic idol fan with the habits of a dedicated otaku. Although he is still a child, he is comfortable with digital cameras and computers, and he actively gathers up-to-date information about idols. He puts this knowledge to use by creating his own fan materials, including a handmade Aikatsu newspaper, and by contributing to idol-related radio programs. He is also a practical and helpful boy, balancing his hobbies with responsibilities at the family shop. Raichi is especially drawn to cool-type female idols, a trait that shapes his admiration for Aoi Kiriya. After Aoi gave him Mizuki merchandise meant for distribution and helped arrange concert tickets, Raichi began affectionately calling her "Aoi nee-san," though Aoi playfully reminded him that his actual older sister is Ichigo.
His key relationships define much of his role. With Ichigo, he shares a typical brother-sister dynamic: they have their differences, and he sometimes admits to having little confidence in her abilities as an idol, but he still looks up to her as his older sister. With Aoi, he shares a mentorship-like bond, as Aoi takes him under her wing in the idol fandom and treats him as a fellow enthusiast. His relationship with Mizuki is that of an admiring fan rather than a personal connection, yet her influence over him is strong enough that his passion for her indirectly changed the course of his sister's life.
Across his appearances in the original Aikatsu! series, the Aikatsu! movie, Aikatsu on Parade!, and the anniversary film Aikatsu! 10th Story: Mirai e no Starway, Raichi remains a supporting presence who represents the perspective of an idol fan and a family member watching from the sidelines. His development is shown less through personal transformation and more through the depth of his fandom, as his detailed knowledge of idols, his homemade newspaper, and his regular radio contributions show a young fan growing steadily more skilled and involved in the culture he loves. His notable abilities lie entirely outside idol performance, resting instead in his sharp information gathering, his facility with cameras and computers, and his talent for producing fan media that reflects a genuine passion for the idol world.
