Asami Seto
Description
Asami Seto is a Japanese voice actress born on April 2, 1993, in Saitama Prefecture. Her interest in voice acting was sparked during her middle school years after watching the anime D.Gray-Man, which led her to practice by recording lines and dubbing over the characters herself. She began her professional career in 2010 and was affiliated with the agency Sigma Seven before moving to her current agency, StarCrew, in 2021.
Seto made her debut as a voice actress in 2011 with her first major role as Yoshino Takatsuki in the television anime Wandering Son. That same year, she was cast as the passionate karuta player Chihaya Ayase in Chihayafuru, a performance that became one of her earliest and most defining roles, for which she also performed ending theme songs. Her career quickly gained momentum with a variety of leading roles throughout the 2010s. She voiced Konatsu Miyamoto in Tari Tari, Lan in Lagrange: The Flower of Rin-ne, Asagi Aiba in Strike the Blood, Shōko Sashinami in Valvrave the Liberator, and Mirage Farina Jenius in Macross Delta.
A significant period in her career began in 2018 when she was cast as Mai Sakurajima in Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. This role, which she has reprised across multiple sequel films, became one of her most recognized performances. The following year, she took on the role of the loyal and determined demi-human Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero, further solidifying her status as a leading voice actress in popular fantasy and action series. In 2020, she joined the cast of the massive hit Jujutsu Kaisen as the confident and fierce jujutsu sorcerer Nobara Kugisaki. She also joined the long-running Pretty Cure franchise in 2021 as Asuka Takizawa, also known as Cure Flamingo, in Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure.
In addition to these standout roles, Seto has built a career defined by her versatility across genres. She has taken on roles in series such as Alpha in The Eminence in Shadow, Fena Houtman in Fena: Pirate Princess, Kasane Randall in Scarlet Nexus, Pisara in The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace, and the stoic commander Mina Ashiro in Kaiju No. 8. She has also frequently voiced characters across multiple interconnected series and franchises, including CZ2128 Delta in Overlord and the Isekai Quartet crossover series, the young Geordo Stuart in My Next Life as a Villainess, Akira Mado in Tokyo Ghoul:re, and Ichiyō Higuchi in Bungo Stray Dogs.
Throughout her career, Seto has received recognition for her work. Her performances have earned her multiple nominations from the Anime Trending Awards, including for Best Voice Acting Actress for her role as Chihaya Ayase in Chihayafuru 3 and recognition as part of the Best Voice Cast for Jujutsu Kaisen. In addition to her voice work in anime, she has also contributed to the music of various projects by performing character songs and theme songs, and has lent her voice to video games such as Ghostwire: Tokyo and Tekken 8. Her ongoing presence in major anime productions demonstrates her continued importance and popularity in the voice acting industry.
