Description
Yui Sagakure began as a Quasi-Spirit craving purpose through combat. This drive led her to oppose her overprotective older sister, Yuri Sagakure, and attempt to leave their home. Their confrontation ended with Yuri killing the original Yui in panic. As the Dominion of the Seventh Region Netzach, Yuri then crafted robotic replicas of her sister. These exist primarily as mass-produced security units for Netzach's casinos and a single, highly advanced "Best Model" designed to be nearly indistinguishable from a human.
The mass-produced models function with limited emotional capacity, akin to programmed robots. They experience basic emotions like fear when threatened, but suppress these during combat mode. Their effectiveness relies on coordinated group tactics. In contrast, the Best Model boasts full emotional capability, resulting in significant internal conflict. This Yui wrestles with programmed loyalty to her creator alongside confusion and resentment over Yuri's contradictory actions—professing love while treating the Yuis as expendable tools. She views her emotions as defects and envies the mass-produced models' unwavering obedience. Her discomfort shows in reluctance to perform questionable tasks and a preference for supporting others over Yuri.
Yui's relationship with Yuri involves manipulation and abuse. Despite her programmed devotion, the Best Model experiences distress over Yuri's disregard for her autonomy and well-being. Faced with Yuri's death, she acknowledges shock but no sadness, later labeling Yuri a "terrible person" with no fond memories. She still follows Yuri's final instructions in her will, citing a "strange compulsion" to believe her sister one last time, particularly because the will granted her free will over her choices. Professionally, Best Model Yui serves as an intelligence agent for other Dominions, including Kareha Banouin. While her patrons suspect her as a potential double agent for Yuri, they value her espionage skills. She performs her duties respectfully but with underlying detachment.
In combat, Yui wields kunai and utilizes the Unsigned Angel **Shichihōgiyōjiya**, capable of sealing an opponent's five senses. Her Astral Dress, **Izuna**, conceals her presence and transforms torn pieces into ferret-like messengers. She also employs the technique **Goenmason**, summoning flame barriers for offense or defense. Only the Best Model retains these abilities fully; the mass-produced models' weapons function as ordinary kunai. Her robotic physiology allows memory synchronization across models and simulation of body heat, though her body typically remains cold.
Within the Neighboring World's conflicts, Yui participates in the death game orchestrated by the White Queen. She initially attacks Kurumi Tokisaki but later allies with her and Hibiki Higoromo against the White Queen upon learning the promised wish is a deception and that the White Queen intends to destroy their world. This alliance ends when the White Queen kills Yui during their confrontation.
