Description
Maria Himesato is a main character introduced in the second season of Aikatsu!, where she represents Dream Academy as the fourth and final core member of that school. She officially debuts in episode 68 and is recognized as a cute-type idol. Before becoming an idol, Maria lived in a remote mountainous area with her wealthy family, who owned a large estate with a castle-like mansion, multiple private helicopters, and cows that roamed the grounds. Her path to idolhood began when Dream Academy's headmaster, Tiara Yumesaki, noticed Maria offering freshly milked cow milk during a photo shoot on her family's property and scouted her on the spot. Maria found the prospect interesting and accepted immediately.

Maria's personality is defined by her kind, gentle, and soft-spoken nature. She is naturally ladylike and carries herself with a composed warmth that draws others in, earning her the nickname Idol Princess. Her upbringing in an isolated and pampered environment leaves her somewhat naive and sheltered, yet she remains considerate and caring toward everyone she meets. This innocence gives her a pure, earnest approach to her idol activities, and she often acts with a cheerful curiosity that endears her to peers and audiences alike.

Her primary motivation stems from a simple, genuine enjoyment of new experiences and a desire to bring happiness to others through her performances. She does not pursue rivalry or competition for its own sake; instead, she focuses on expressing her natural charm and improving as an idol for the joy it brings. This is reflected in her dedication to the Aurora Fantasy brand, which she uses as her primary set of cards, sharing that preference with Sakura Kitaoji from Starlight Academy. Maria's signature catchphrase, though not frequently used in the anime, is "panpaka pa~n!"

Within the story, Maria serves as a representative of Dream Academy's emerging generation of idols, joining her schoolmates Seira Otoshiro, Kii Saegusa, and Sora Kazesawa. She quickly becomes a popular model and frequently appears on magazine covers alongside Sora, indicating her rapid rise in the industry. Her role expands as she participates in major events such as the Partners Cup, where she teams with Otome Arisugawa, and later as one of the eight selected idols in the elite unit Aikatsu8, which performs across the country. In the film, her resourcefulness proves crucial: she uses her family's helicopter to retrieve a delayed stage costume, saving a live drama performance from collapse.

Key relationships include her closest friend at Dream Academy, Sora Kazesawa, with whom she is often seen spending time. She also forms a respectful bond with Seira Otoshiro and Kii Saegusa as fellow schoolmates. Her partnership with Otome Arisugawa during the Partners Cup highlights her ability to cooperate with idols from rival schools. Additionally, she shares a warm connection with Tiara Yumesaki, who scouted her and serves as a mentor figure.

Maria's development involves a gradual transition from a naive mountain girl into a polished idol, though she retains her core kindness and sincerity throughout the series. While her screen time diminishes in later seasons as the narrative shifts focus, her contributions to key events and the impression she leaves as the gentle yet capable princess of Dream Academy mark her growth. Notably, despite limited appearances, she achieved the highest ranking among Dream Academy idols in the Aikatsu8 selection, demonstrating her popularity within the game's context.

Her notable abilities include the use of Constellation Appeal, a special performance technique introduced in the second season, which she masters relatively early in her debut. As a cute-type idol, she excels in fashion and modeling, particularly within the Aurora Fantasy brand. Her wealth and family resources also grant her access to private transportation, which she occasionally uses to support her fellow idols in urgent situations. Overall, Maria Himesato stands as a warm, composed, and quietly determined idol whose pure-hearted nature and occasional moments of improbable resourcefulness define her presence in the series.
