Description
Persephone II, also called Kasugai Picoletta, is the daughter of Hades and the original Persephone. As underworld royalty, she maintains a humble attitude about her status, recognized primarily by the angel Poporon. She intensely dislikes her given name—derived from a bathroom air freshener brand—and insists on being called Persephone or "Peru-chan" by friends.
Sent to Earth by her mother to aid the lamia Jashin-chan, she initially wore a black hooded cloak, boots, gas mask, and oxygen tank due to severe reactions to human air pollution. This exacerbated her inherited respiratory weakness, causing symptoms like bloody coughs and fainting. Her appearance features gray hair covering one eye, pointed ears, and rose-pink eyes mirroring her mother’s. Later, she adopted casual attire: a white long-sleeved shirt with a black knot, black overalls with a knee-length skirt, black stockings, and shoes.
Naive about human customs yet fundamentally gentle, she occasionally sharpens her tongue against Jashin-chan’s provocations. She befriends humans, angels like Poporon (who secretly plots to kill her as Hades’ heir), and demons. The minotaur Minos serves as her caretaker and trainer, strengthening her frail body per her mother’s orders. She shares a sisterly bond with Minos and views Jashin-chan as an older sister, though Jashin-chan often rebuffs this. The human Yurine Hanazono assists her academically.
Her core mission involved teaching Jashin-chan the "Complete Jashin-chan Dropkick," which she adapted into her "Full Strike Dropkick." This high-damage move risks breaking her leg due to her fragility and purportedly requires 80 years to master, implying her age exceeds that. After completing her task, she stayed on Earth with Minos, building endurance through morning runs and part-time work. Her mother later joined her, working at an orphanage, and their relationship deepened; her mother occasionally uses "Picoletta" privately.
Early in her mission, she repeatedly encountered Jashin-chan without recognition, creating recurring comedy. Her presence expanded in later anime seasons, including events like a beach trip and a police questioning in Akihabara. Her high underworld rank contrasts with its sparse population—limited to her family and a three-headed dog.
