Description
Monsieur Pierre is a recurring character in Pokémon the Series: XY who serves as the official announcer and master of ceremonies for Pokémon Showcases across the Kalos region. He first appears in the episode Dreaming a Performer's Dream!, where he introduces the Kalos Queen Aria for an exhibition performance at the Lagoon Town Showcase. His primary responsibility is to host each competition: he announces the theme of the first round, presents the participating performers to the audience, explains the rules, and keeps track of the time during the themed performance segment. At the conclusion of a Showcase, Monsieur Pierre awards the Princess Key to the winner, a symbolic key that allows entry into higher-level competitions.

Monsieur Pierre is a tall figure with blonde hair, a short chin puff beard, and a perpetually cheerful expression. He dresses in a distinctive black-and-blue suit decorated with glowing stripes, a matching top hat, and a large ornamental key hanging from his neck. He carries a walking cane on which his Klefki perches; this Klefki is responsible for holding and presenting the Princess Key to the victor. He speaks with a pronounced French accent and frequently incorporates French phrases such as "s'il vous plaît" into his speech, adding a formal and refined tone to his announcements.

His personality is consistently polite, enthusiastic, and professional. He remains calm and poised throughout every Showcase, always wearing a welcoming smile. While his role is largely ceremonial and procedural, he shows genuine support for the performers and takes pride in facilitating the Showcase experience. He has no known personal ambitions beyond his duties; his motivation appears to be a deep appreciation for the art of Pokémon performance and a desire to see the competitions run smoothly and fairly.

Monsieur Pierre’s key relationships are primarily with the performers themselves. He interacts directly with contenders such as Serena, Shauna, Miette, and the reigning Kalos Queen Aria, introducing them on stage and acknowledging their achievements. He also has a close partnership with his Klefki, which serves as both a companion and a functional aid during ceremonies. Beyond these official interactions, he does not develop deep personal bonds with the main cast, and his character remains largely static throughout the series. He appears in several Showcase episodes, including Serena’s debut in Coumarine City and the Dendemille Town Showcase, as well as a non-competition episode where he hosts a dance party for performers and their Pokémon.

In terms of notable abilities, Monsieur Pierre is an adept public speaker and event coordinator, able to command a large stage with elegance and clarity. He manages the timing of performances with precision and maintains an atmosphere of excitement and fairness. His Klefki is shown to be well-trained and reliable, entrusted with the important Princess Key. Apart from his emcee role, he does not engage in Pokémon battles or demonstrate other talents; his expertise is entirely centered on the presentation and administration of Pokémon Showcases. Overall, Monsieur Pierre is a steady, symbolically important figure in the Kalos performance circuit, embodying the formality and charm of the region's showcase tradition.
