Description
Cerise Blossom, known in the original Japanese version as Sakura Nozaki, is a secondary character introduced in Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy. She is a student who was originally a member of the rhythmic gymnastics club at her middle school before being scouted to join the newly formed Inazuma Japan national team. Her uniform number is seven, and she plays as a midfielder.
Her background is quite distinct from the typical soccer player. Before being recruited for the Football Frontier International Vision 2 tournament, Cerise was a talented and successful rhythmic gymnast who had even won a gold medal in her discipline. She had no prior experience with soccer, which initially makes her a complete novice on the field. Her main reason for accepting the position on Inazuma Japan is not a passion for soccer but a practical one; she sees it as a way to secure an opportunity to study abroad, which would allow her to join the world's best rhythmic gymnastics team.
Cerise has a bright and lively personality, and her physical movements are heavily influenced by her gymnastics training. She possesses a highly flexible body and a slender build. Her approach to soccer is initially unorthodox; she habitually uses rhythmic gymnastics movements, such as high leg kicks and flexible contortions, to control the ball and confuse her opponents. This makes her dribbling style unique and unpredictable.
However, beneath her cheerful exterior, Cerise initially harbors a more complex and competitive nature. Due to the intense pressure from her parents, who forced her to train relentlessly from a young age and demanded she always be the best, Cerise developed an obsession with being the number one performer and a fear of failure, particularly of coming in second place. This manifests as a hidden, scheming side to her personality. In the early stages of the story, she is frequently self-centered on the field, stealing the ball from her own teammates and performing solo plays in an attempt to stand out and gain approval from her watching parents. This behavior creates friction within the team, especially with other female players.
Her key relationships within the team are primarily with her fellow teammates, who help her understand the value of cooperation. The team captain, Arion Sherwind, plays a crucial role in her development by advising her that soccer is a team sport and that individual mistakes are acceptable. It is through this guidance that Cerise begins to move past her obsession with being the sole star. In a match against the Australian team Big Waves, she finally realizes that playing as part of a cohesive unit is both effective and enjoyable. This epiphany leads to a significant shift in her character, causing her to abandon her false, competitive persona and become genuinely kinder and more supportive of her teammates. Her parents, witnessing her success in playing for the team, also come to understand that their strict attitude toward her was wrong.
Throughout the story, Cerise develops notable abilities that blend her gymnastics skills with soccer. Her most prominent offensive special technique is called Hoop Trap. To perform it, she makes a large, pink hoop appear with her rhythmic gymnastics ribbons, juggles the ball with it, and then uses the hoop to ensnare an opponent's movement. Her flexibility also serves as a natural ability, allowing her to lift the ball high with her legs or maintain control in situations where other players would lose their balance. Later in the competition, she also learns to materialize her soul, a powerful manifestation of her inner self that she uses to overcome formidable opponents. In the video games, her growth culminates in a confrontation with a shadowy version of her younger self, which she must defeat to fully move past her childhood pressures.
